Hey guys, just interested to see what you can come up with for the Umpires kit for 2012

I'd heard rumours they were going to only use green, with some kind of brown shorts/pants...

I'm happy with the navy shorts, but would love to see the white shirts introduced when possible...I mean, if it's Essendon v Richmond and the only white is one team's shorts, WHY NOT???!!!???

I would like to see Goal Umpires wearing those hats again and not caps. The sight of a goal umpire wearing one of those hats signalling a goal is an iconic image of Australian Football. It was part of the pre-game entertainment of the Grand Final one year, then that image is taken away with the introduction of coloured umpire clothing and baseball caps on the goal umpires.

The sight of a goal umpire wearing one of those hats signalling a goal is an iconic image of Australian Football.

It is iconic, but they suck! I want to umpire in something I know won't come off and is actually practical for my job thanks!

Yeah, done a bit of goal umpiring in my time and the caps work an absolute treat and serve their purpose well (to keep the sun out of the umpire's eyes). One of those other hats would be a nightmare to umpire in with todays standards. Caps also help to keep a clean, modern image for the comp

I would too, that's a pretty neat idea SHP. But I could imagine a huge uproar from people complaining about it looks to much like the Bulldogs.

League colours is a novel idea. White, blue, and red are all attractive colours on their own. But utilise them together, and the combination is timeless.

But how practical is it? Almost half of the competition have a white jumper. And blue and red is popular in every sport. It'd create some horrible clashes.

Utilising 'lesser' colours is working well as is. Using green, orange, yellow, and perhaps a sky blue might be all you need.

Yeah they look great.

But what happens when the Bulldogs play Sydney for example, one is in white and red, one is in blue, red and white. All three options create unnecessary clashes - granted this would be the worse case scenario throughout the league. So I guess sort out this issue (maybe a 4th black option?) and you would have a possible solution.

Looking like a flouro green/yellow (think tennis balls) top with grey shorts/pants.

That wouldn't clash with any side so it may well be for every game this season.

Nah it looks alright, vast improvement on the amateurish two-tone, ill-fitting uniforms last year. Goal umps look right sharp in those trousers

Nah it looks alright, vast improvement on the amateurish two-tone, ill-fitting uniforms last year. Goal umps look right sharp in those trousers

Runners now wear a Highlighter Orange, like the VFL Umpires

Yep that's the only kit for 2012.
All Under Armour except the pants for the goalies are from Nike's golfing range lol
