Stiffest bloke in recent memory at Tigerland, J. Ross.
Won't get a decent crack at it - and is more than deserving of it.
We'll persist with others no doubt.

What the Dimma and co have done to this kids growth is unforgivable.
Will be at the Saints next year.
Im so disappointed in how they treated him.

Ross lacks a bit at the coal face which is odd because it looked like it was his bread and butter early days. But he has good run and spread, is strong with ball in hand and uses it well these days. His best games have been played across half forward lately, and given Graham is not there he is unlucky not to be playing his role. I would rather he in that Mansell because he can cover the ground well so could do the defensive work, but he is much more attacking.

I feel like I'm in the minority on this guy. I agree he is too good for VFL level. However, when he makes the step up to AFL level, he doesn't have the urgency or the intensity off the ball. He doesn't have the leg speed in my opinion.

I think even if we give him a run of 4-5 games, those deficiencies will remain evident.

I’m in the same camp as you mate
I also don’t really see who he pushes out of our current midfield mix because he doesn’t really do enough on the wing at afl level to justify his selection

As decent as he is Taranto, Hopper and Prestia all start before him without even thinking about it

Graham when fit has him covered as well, the other option is Cotch but even his spot in the side is debatable when we throw in our other guys who can play multiple positions and rotate through the middle (Bolton and Dusty)

In terms of upside I still also have Sonsie ahead of Ross as well

He is never going to have the skillset to complement Hopper and Taranto. Even Prestia doesn't need to be in the team with them. Both Hopper and Taranto purely play mid and both play a lot of minutes and are prime age. We can't use a 3rd similar player.

I don't think he is a similar type, far more outside. Speed is the only factor and Prestia is about the same speed. Must have a look before putting a line though the idea.

Ross jogs faster than prestia sprints and hes way quicker than hopper and Toronto but in saying that Ross is just average pace .

A lot of love for Ross from Dimma in the game preview presser. Hope he’s feeling the love and wants to stay he’s excellent depth at the very least

Played his usual game. Seriously he doesnt have AFL qualities. Nice guy, gives his all, but he gets smashed around the stoppages and isnt great in transition. What does he offer? There is no way he makes our midfield better.

He had a few nice plays, one of his kicks into our forward line was under some serious heat but otherwise I just don’t think he is very damaging

Guys like Taranto and Dusty might turn it over more but they also kick to more dangerous positions where I find Ross always just plays it overly safe resulting in the ball never really ends up in a better situation than what it was in his hands

Finally thank god you can all stop calling for his recall. He is useless and not AFL standard. Athletically poor and football skills by hand and foot atrocious.
I suspect we will not see him again in the seniors.
