Just a reminder, even if it hasn't come up for a few pages and y'all should know this stuff by now:

This thread is not about Covid, lockdowns, or vaccines. It is about Donald Trump. While Trump was in office during the pandemic and his response to Covid is relevant, there are pertinent threads for you to post your opinions on those things in.

It might also do with reminding a few that when you post on the SRP, you are responsible for backing up/verifying your claims to fact. What this means is that you will be asked time to time to support your claims with evidence, to ensure that this forum is as free of misinfomation as we can make it.

Do not post conspiracy theories on this forum. We have an entire other forum for that.

Thanks all.

Congrats Royces Hart on the new thread title!

So errr...for anyone that's interested, Trump didn't win the election:

I simply am not surprised if this is true.

Gerrymandering, voter suppression and all those tricks have been going on for hundreds of years. But the GOP are the ones who use it 10x more than Democrats. The GOP still have Jim Crow era laws on the books in southern states where the Dems have all but given up fighting them.

No argument here, but the laws post COVID have since gone nuclear and it's basically open season on the democratic vote.

Gerrymandering is the most ridiculous thing ever, but even then, the voters themselves are still allowed to vote and have their vote counted. Palast has gone into great detail how 'vigilantes in their thousands', have essentially challenged votes for the pure hell of it...knowing that barely any of the challenges are reviewed, so the ballot is just thrown in the bin. It's just out in the open now. There's no disguising it.

It costs $10 per challenged vote, and there are so many stories of vigilantes challenging thousands of votes, on the YouTube comment section for Palast's video. Normal every day people racking up thousands of dollars. It's co-ordinated, and it's backed by people with deep pockets.

I mean I'll repeat this again, they're literally just throwing ballots in the bin, or turning people away, with no reason...because they know they won't be challenged given the DOJ is basically Trump's puppet show now.

We're also talking millions of votes. Not people turned away. But people who mailed it in and were told 'nope sorry too late', and thrown in the bin.

If this was 2020, would this conduct have stood under all the eagle-eyed vigilantes who were crying 'fraud' on the other side. Absolutely not. Difference is this time, is these people no longer believe in Democracy, and just want 'their side' in charge, whatever the cost.

That's the end of Democracy for mine, IMO.

I know so many nice Americans.

But I feel like, after reading that article, and Nick Bryant's recent "The Forever War", and having seen just how relentlessly determined some Americans are to disenfranchise their black brethren, to deny the very people they work alongside the basics of democratic participation in their own nation, I feel like every new American I meet now, at the back of my mind will be "Are you a complete racist prick beneath that mild exterior?"

The measures they use to discount votes and how it always gets mired in the fallability of methods (ie, voting machines) has long had a third world flavor, maybe only maintaining the veneer of respectability because those methods attempt the use of technology compared to third world countries

The big capitalists need cheap labour . How do they hold it togther with MAGA and the MAGA blue base for that matter that demand deportation
The people that are detained will be made to work for free for their “freedom”

Dare I say “work will set you free”…history repeating and all of that

Same but they’re middle class, and cannot see what’s happening because they’re not affected yet.

They view it as part of the normal swing between left and right. It’s being comfortably ignorant.

Seriously though, what is the point of these hearings?

Is he going to be charged for perjury / lying under oath to the Senate?

If not, why not?
