It's honestly really cringeworthy whenever people say that sh*t.
It isn’t really. They are supporters of him and some do believe that he was wrongly done by. They are still allowed to have that belief that he is a Brownlow winner.

There are enough opposition supporters to remind us he isn’t a Brownlow Medal winner, I’m sure supporters on here don’t need reminders or to be told that is cringe from a fellow supporter.

It really is. I love Jobe and always will, he was a fantastic player and is a fantastic person by all accounts. But it's cringeworthy when people say shit like that.

There are ways of appreciating the player he was without bringing up that stuff and I prefer to remember him that way. I'm not going to go to the masses and say Jobe isn't a Brownlow Medalist unprompted. Don't act like I was saying that. But don't boo-hoo me when I disagree with that shit.

Former Essendon captain Jobe Watson has returned to his roots, taking a job as the coach of Xavier College's First XVIII footy team for the 2023 season.
i remember when the APS didn't allow coaches that weren't also teachers anywhere near their football programs. Should go back to the glory days of hiring barely literate ex footballers as PE teachers.

You can watch the full episode of Unfiltered with Australia’s best sports interviewer Hamish McLachlan featuring former Essendon champion Jobe Watson, at 9.30pm tonight, straight after The Front Bar, on Seven

So my question for Jobe is, given you float on a cloud high, high above everyone else and always have done, what possible reason do you have to debase yourself by talking to Hammer, what could you possibly gain from it apart from a negative reaction?

Online reaction has been pretty brutal from what I saw, like, he said all the right things and spoke well, but still, you open yourself up to that kind of reaction the minute you agree to sit down

Some people are never happy but you can't make your choices based on how they might react, especially if those people are objectively irrelevant to your life (e.g., dickheads on social media).

When I look at the headlines for Essendon in my news app there's actually **** all about this interview. There's two articles that look like relatively factual recounts (one from NewsCorp and one from NineFax), and then Channel 7's self-promotion article. That's it. Go back 10 years and it would've flooded every outlet and been dissected for months afterwards.

The good thing about this year is there are a thousand footy panel shows, so the media cycle is getting shorter and shorter as they have to keep finding new content for every day of the week in order to compete for viewers. Evidently, this ain't the story that sells ad space anymore.

Bonus point on the timing because Essendon isn't even playing this week, so it's not interrupting the player's preparation either.

If he feels like he wants to tell his truth and put that in the public domain then I think he has a right to, and the way he's done it is much better than doing it in like January when there's nothing else to talk about for 6 weeks+.
