People are pulling this quote from Niall's article and running with it as if it's a sure thing Maynard stays without understanding the context in which it is said.


Of course Maynard doesn't want to leave. But neither did Grundy, neither did Treloar. Niall's point is that there is a cold reality to player movement in the AFL now and it's up to the club to determine whether the black and white figures of cash replace the intrinsic value of losing a heart and soul player.
