It just doesn't work like that, if wants to leave he picks his team and they set the price not us. In general the landscape of paying up big time for a player before they are out of contract is gone, players will just wait until they are OOC so they team they can be certain the team they want to go to can get them.

You’ve outlined one possible way this plays out. It can work like that, but rarely does.

Contracted players have almost no bargaining power. The last time this situation arose Cam McCartney sat out a whole season of football.

Of all the options that could play out, yours is the least likely.

Much has to do with if the club wants that player out the door (not saying this is the case with JUH) then the player has the upper hand whether he is contracted or not.

I may be beating the same drum, but this isn't really ridiculously new news?

He is a player that missed two games last year for vaguely similar reasons.

I'm trying to pour cold water on making suggestions beyond that but "merely" saying that he might miss R1 or whatever, to me, is not actually that big news - we knew to some extent about his struggles well before the start of pre-season.

I raised my eyebrows a little that we recruited Kennedy, Hynes and Davidson, all of whom can play game time as third tall forwards.

With Darcy, Naughton and JUH (and Bont and others capable of floating forward) you wouldn’t think any of them would be required for that role except to pinch hit once in a while.

I did start to wonder if we were at least considering what might happen if JUH moved on (at least when his two year deal expires). If his absence continues you think he’ll miss a part of the season.

You'd imagine he's out because the leadership group have told him he needs to meet certain criteria before he's allowed back into the fold. That seems to be the way at other clubs.

How about we don't spend pages debating about the "whys?", with JUH. Which is nothing but pure speculation and achieves nothing, and does nothing to help him. Personally if it is purely personal issues, it is none of our business anyway. Unless he king hits someone on a night out, it should remain private.

Instead, wish him all the best, hope he gets the support he needs, and that he is able to get up and have a few good years ahead of him. Lets talk about those who WILL be lining up for round 1, and those who ARE training.

And looked disinterested for half the games that he played.

It's an interesting situation because he was initially so close to guys like Bont & Naughton and it appears he's drifted away from them and into a new circle away from the football club.

I find that hard to imagine, given the murky details available.

Surely having Jamarra at the club, around his teammates, in the gym, doing laps of the pool or whatever is better than exiling him, encouraging him to mix more with his other influences.

The Western Bulldogs can confirm that forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan is currently undertaking flexible training arrangements as he deals with personal issues.

With the endorsement of the football program, Jamarra has alternated his training between Mission Whitten Oval and away from the Club.

Club continues to provide its full support to Jamarra and remains in constant contact with him, his family and his management. With Jamarra’s health and wellbeing of paramount importance, the Club requests that his privacy be respected during this period.

I can’t help but think the two year deal was as much the club’s idea as his management’s.

Apparently he’s great with supporters etc and he seems pretty likeable. It’d be a shame if he didn’t make it with us because of all of this. Hopefully he pulls it together.

There are 3 different Hawks fans who have commented on his most recent Insta photo telling him to go play for the Hawks, 0 from anyone else in something put up 3 weeks ago.

So yeah, my hatred for them has gone up to another level. Absolutely pathetic fan base that need a reality check
