Just one week to the AFL Draft .....which Club gets which Rookie is critical to our assessment of job security and role

Should be a raft of Rookie info flowing from this point

Of the top end guys - Aschroft to Brisbane, Jagga Smith to Carlton, Adelaide, Melbourne or Richmond both likely to be strong selections. Lalor as a forward will be a question mark. Langford if he lands at Richmond could be a play. Doubt Draper or O'Sullivan will be must haves but will depend on the team they land at.

Wouldn't surprise me to see FOS start with forward status which would put him on the radar

Think Richmond take Smillie at 6(7) and play him from the jump. Lalor probably too but likely to be mostly forward and will be top priced.

We are linked to Bo Allan too if he gets through and would imagine he plays most weeks with the hole Rioli has left.

Dattoli as a fwd/mid is ready to go as well depending where he ends up.

Seems to be a last minute voting swing from Lalor to FOS .....I still think the romanticism of RICH getting another Dusty will be too much for RICH to resist

I've been hearing FOS at 1 ahead of Lalor but there is just so much to the contrary out there I have been losing faith in that info.

It's a real dilemma for the Club ....they're both equal IMO, Lalor probably gets the nod due to his greater positional flexibility

Although, you may be able to get FOS at #1 .....and then Langford, offering the flexibility, at #6 ??

Gotta say, I usually have criticism's of some Clubs Drafting strategies / outcomes each year .....but my honest opinion is every Club has nailed their first round picks ....both in terms of the best available, but also meeting needs

Query would be Port's return overall for Houston

Also, looking at these Draftee's ....all the small-medium players have bodies ready to go .....where have all the skinny rakes disappeared to ?

Entire bench going to be full of Richmond players? Expansion draft style.
Although looking at the first round they didn't really draft a lot to help us out. Anyone have any insight on Trainor? Hotton unlikely to be available from Round 1 with his injuries. Smilie and Lalor yes but both will likely be expensive for their output.

Trainor more a third tall/rebounder. Not sure what price pick 21 is but think he will be a good D7/8.

Hotton won't play before mid season and that's likely to be VFL. One for 2026, hoping he's not one of those dreaded round 24 debuts who drops a 75 and is basically a $500k rookie.

Bo Allan should play early, will be in everyones teams as D5/D6

Reid I could see getting a run early on with Freo, should be a mid/fwd

Sid the kid will play all season

Tigers have a few that will play

Would be nice if Lombard gets the mid/fwd tag, should play all year for GC too, has been playing VFL for them for 2 years now including a GF win.

I reckon Travaglia gets a gig for the Saints early on too, we might finally have some decent defense rookies next year

Port should play Berry, he will instantly be their second best small forward, they've been playing some plodders in his role

Remember the name .....Saad El-Hawli

My ESS loving mate has been spuiking his name recently for 2025 .....what with Martin likely to play FWD

Essendon's fifth-ever mid-season selection enters the club off the back of stellar VFL form. The 23-year-old is a versatile, athletic halfback/wing and in eight matches at state-league level, El-Hawli has averaged 25.8 disposals and six marks per game, wowing onlookers with his explosive power and pin-point ball use.

Elijah Hewett should be on the high end of rookie price, and will be playing in the midfield for us.
Probably good for a 55-60 average.

Yep already had him on my list, was moreso talking about this seasons crop

Hewy will be priced under 300k, probably a lock if he is playing midfield
