Hopper if he gets fit will prove decent value for us yet. Eventually Taranto will play more high half forward I think, where he can use his 2 way running ability to max effect. Hopper will take the big bodies in the middle, leaving these young guns to crash through smaller players once they develop a bit.

I have seen enough of Hopper at his best at GWS to know he is a very good player. Just needs any sort of a run at it.
Imagine the new performance guy gets hopper firing. It protects all the kids, and I don't think the picks we gave for him have turned into anything?

Edit. Oops. Daniel Curtin. That hurts. Gws traded Curtin for James leake and phoenix Goddard. Or we could have taken nate caddy. Pencilling that in as a loss for us.

Pretty sure we will end up with equivalent players in those roles, just a couple of years behind.

It is more important to build a functioning team than to win trades. No Hopper, no Taranto means these mids we are drafting now & 2025/6 would be straight into a full mid workload, or playing alongside people like Will Brodie. Neither of those scenarios would have been fixed by Daniel Curtain being on our list.

Probably does, but we still need elite speed in there and Hotton is the only mid we have with elite speed so far.
Agree we need more elite speed but we do have some. Will depend on best balance and positioning.
Lalor will bring the burst of speed. McAuliffe actually has elite speed, haven’t seen it much yet. MRJ may get some midfield time and possibly Campbell. Add Hotton in time. And outside of the square with Hugo, Clarke and K Smith receiving.

Need to hope at least one of the two first rounders we take next year have good to elite speed. Have to see how it plays out

But I'm still in favour of taking best available either way

If we pick Sharp good luck getting a clearance against our on ball trio for the next decade

Lalor (188cm, maybe 190?), Smilie (195cm), Sharp (188cm and growing)

All going to be around 90kg +
Does Sharp like to tackle?

Curtin actually has t done anything at all yet , still time

Are Sharp and Greeves more silky skilled mids or more brute force types?
Sharp is a bulldozer. See ball and beat opponent to ball. Greeves more skilled, strong mark up forward.

Think he averaged 8 in the seniors this year.

Last year in the 16's he went 37 disposals and 5 tackles a game. Think I've read he's been focused on his defensive game this year rather than just racking up the footy.

Very impressive
Hope he continues to reach new levels
