Don't think they have the depth to cope

Backline is a worry and can't see them taking a step up from the 12 games they won last year
honestly starting to agree with this, add to the fact they won 2 games by pure incompetence last season, dont think the swans are as much a lock for the top 8 as i did previously

They have a number of players who can step up again.

Who?

They don't have much of a forward line, and their midfield is completely decimated. Their backline is going to have to do an awful lot of attacking, with absolute clinics from Gulden, Warner, Papley and McDonald, to even get close to finals.

I mean we're basically in everyone's bottom 6, and we have one of the most potent attacks in the comp. Don't see how Sydney are much different with a dearth of mids and a heavy reliance on the kids.

Gulden, Warner, Campbell, McDonald, Shledrick, Amarty, Wicks all have improvement in them to name a few, some more than the others.
Grundy will be a very handy pick up also.

As Do McClean & Hayward. I'm on the fence about the opener and a loss to Pies incoming with a depleted midfield but lack of talent and improvement in list profile will sure not be an excuse for missing finals. The Inconsistent Heeney having an All Australian Year which his ability would say he is capable would have them comfortably in the 8. Some people like to justify their own clubs struggles to make the 8 or how they are perceived by comparisons. Make them sleep a bit better.

Final crack at this. 3 new teams in the 8:

1. Brisbane
2. Pies
3. Swans - was sceptical but their list is pretty stacked and will rack up wins at home
4. Crows

5. Saints - am a RTB truther, provided their midfield holds up then NWM, Owens, Phillipou take them up a level
6. Blues
7. Bulldogs - provided JUH goes to next level
8. Suns - don't rate too highly but easy draw allows them to sneak in

9. Melbourne - start hot but mid depth and lack of rest for Max takes a toll
10. GWS - hot take, but their fringe players all were in career best form all at once last year
11. Bombers
12. Power
13. Hawks
14. Geelong
15. Freo
16. Richmond
17. North
18. WCE

Essendon?!?

Wow that's a hot take and a half

But the biggest thing is our run. Stephens, fisher, sheezel, Mckercher, Lazzaro and Scott is a lot of running power now. And we were outrunning the saints in the last qrt, who are apparently the fittest team in the comp.
Got to love North fans, weren't you guys 3 points down going into the last but you outrans us and lost the game, 1 scoring shot in the last quarter which would imply that the ball lived in the Saints half of the ground for majority of that quarter but hey as long as you believe that you outran the Saints is all that matters.

Boy oh boy bottom 4 for Geelong? When theyve never finished lower than 12th? You genuinely think one of the best scoring sides is going to win less games than Suns/Tigers/Dons/Hawks?

Gonna love coming back here halfway through the season

Inside 50’s were pretty even in the last despite a 5-6 goal wind advantage the saints way.

Well it would imply that unless you watched the game.

The ball hardly lived in the Saints half and you were kicking with a 5 goal gale.

🤣The only heat I'm copping for this prediction is from Bombers fans!!!
Not sure how much anyone should take notice of my prediction ... I did tip Pies for premiers last year ... first time I've been right since 2010

final ladder before the season starts

1. Brisbane
2. GWS
3. Pies
4. WB
5. Port
6. Saints
7. Freo
8. Melb

9. Swans
10. Crows
11. Suns
12. Carlton
13. Geelong
14. Essendon
15. Hawks
16. Richmond
17. North
18. Eagles

The rebadged VFL would be fuming at this top 8, only VIC game is St Kilda vs Freo in Week 1.

GWS vs Port and Brisbane vs Freo semi finals on the cards, can't have 2 finals at 4.10/4.40 on a Sunday :D

The age and injury factor has led me to this conclusion. I'm happy to be wrong about Geelong but also it could be worse, depends on injuries.
