I'm creating this thread, not because I have any particular knowledge but more because I want somewhere to ask questions.

I'll kick this thread off with some key dates:

* the trade period will be 5-11 December

* the draft itself will be on 16 December

* from 4-11 December there will be a Restricted Free Agency period (RFA) and a Delisted Free Agency period

* there will be a further DFA period from about 12-14 December; and

* then a Supplemental Signing Period (SSP) straight after the draft from 17-18 December. International rookies and the like can be signed at this time too.

Here's my source: https://www.afl.com.au/aflw/news/1189913/aflw-trade-and-draft-dates-locked-in-for-2024-season.

Next some draft related information

* results from the National combine: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1241350/2024-telstra-aflw-draft-combine-testing-results (girls results after the boys)

* results from the State combines: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1245118/2024-telstra-aflw-state-draft-combine-testing-results (again, girls' results follow the boys' results)

but overall it looks like Pie 4 Life 's thread is the place to go for info about draftees: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/2024-aflw-draft-player-profiles-including-highlights.1388985/

And having cleverly created this space to ask questions, now I want to light out with some questions:

* What are the draft rules or, if they are not yet known, how/when can we find out? NB The draft is on 16 December just over 6 weeks away.

* Will future pick trading be allowed?

* What are the rules for matching bids on Academy players and father-daughters?

Do we still not know the academy bidding rules ahead of next months draft?

"Any club can place a bid on a father-daughter or northern academy player, with the "home" club required to match the bidding with their own pick, within 18 selections of the nomination, should they wish to retain the player."

The men’s rules should follow this instead of the points matching system
