So with the development of the new Brownlow Stand set for completion in 2017, the Social Club has been restructured, as far as I'm aware there is no 'restricted' membership as they have increased the number of full social club members to 1800 for 2017 according to this Geelong Advertiser article:

http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au...s/news-story/2f99050308fec2a879d3de69ece2506e

To summarise that article, those members who had reserved seats in the social club are unhappy because the club aren't allowing seats in the new social club to be reserved. However with 1800 social club members (increasing from 1100 in 2016, assuming of full and restricted members), there will be 2100 seats available, obviously allowing for members to purchase guest passes as well.

The social club membership is $750 which is the same price as 2016 according to the article so that's great considering you would have thought they would bump it up a little even to $800 to help with the costs of development.

As for the social club information, this is from their website:

MELBOURNE HOME GAMES

  • Access to purchase guest passes at all Cats home games
  • Access to Premium Level 2 Seating at Etihad and MCG
BENEFITS
  • Guaranteed Priority 1 Access to Grand Final tickets (should the Cats compete)
  • Access to purchase tickets to Weeks 1 to 3 of the Finals Series
  • Access to Cats pre-season matches
  • Voting Rights (must be 18 years old or only)
  • Premium, exclusive Geelong Social Club branded lanyard and scarf
  • Priority Access to Geelong Social Club facilities, should the Cats compete in a Finals match at Simonds Stadium – conditions apply
  • Access to non-Cats events at Simonds Stadium – conditions apply
  • Exclusive invitation to Cats events
So that's all the information on the social club from next season, I just had some questions for current SC members as I have decided to join along with my Dad, what Cats events are you exclusively invited to? Also I'm assuming the MCG and Etihad seating is first come, first served like at Simonds, just asking because as a general member I have upgraded to a social club seat however I have been given a designated seat for those games.

Guys has anyone else purchased guest passes via Ticketmaster this year?

There's always been a 'Guest Pass' option in previous years once you enter your barcode/s, but now all you can select is 'Best Available'... and it's coming up at $73 o_O

Surely that's not right, has it really increased that much?

And if so, does it still say Social Club Guest on their ticket? Would hate to fork out $73 for each of them to find out they can't come into the room for a drink each break.

Anyone going to the function in the Social Club on the 8th of May?
I'll be working but would be great to hear how the new place looks

I picked up a guest pass for my cousin (who is an AFL/Dees member) last week online, you're right asking because the ticket doesn't have "Social Club" marked on it. I confirmed with GFC that this would still allow access to the bar and they said they had advised the bar staff that if the ticket was from a specific seating area they were to be let in.
We paid the $73 because you can no longer get an "upgrade" if you're not a GFC member.
Welcome aboard!
