Even though the AFL no longer wants to have State of Origin on its calendar, just for fun, say they have decided to bring it back.

The teams are:

-Victoria Metro.
-Victoria Country
-South Australia
-Western Australia
-NSW
-ACT
-Tasmania
-Northern Territory

The teams would consist of the following:

-Starting 18
-6 interchange
-6 emergencies
-1 coach (must not be an AFL club coach, which means coaches such as Hawthorn's Alastair Clarkson are ineligible for selection).

The 8 teams will split into two divisions of 4.

DIVISION 1:
Vic Metro
Vic Country
SA
WA

DIVISION 2:
Tasmania
NSW
ACT
Northern Territory

The teams will play each other once, with the top 2 facing off to play off for their respective division titles.

So, if you were a selector for ie SA, who would you pick to represent the Croweaters?

SA

B: Andrew Mackie - Heath Grundy - Jack Hombsch

HB: Brodie Smith - Phil Davis - Rory Laird

C: Brad Ebert - Bryce Gibbs - Chad Wingard

HF: Daniel Menzel - Justin Westhoff - Orazio Fantasia

F: Eddie Betts - Brett Eddy - Paul Puopolo

R: Brodie Grundy - Lachie Neale - Jack Viney

Int: Sam Jacobs - Luke Dunstan - Luke Brown - Bernie Vince

Strengths

- Best selection of small forwards of any state in Betts, Menzel, Fantasia, Puopolo and Wingard.
- Defence is decent. Davis, Laird and Mackie are arguably in AA form right now while Smith is thereabouts. Grundy and Hombsch are solid talls.
- 2 of the top 5 ruck-men in the AFL with Jacobs and Grundy.
- Enough top end midfielders to be competitive with Gibbs, Neale, Viney, Vince and Ebert who is in good form at the moment.

Weaknesses

- Key forwards. Westhoff leads the attack at CHF with 1 goal for the year and (yes I'm being serious) Brett Eddy is probably the best key forward SA has right now, and he was just omitted.
- Depth, everywhere.

Realistically we would be destroyed by Vic and WA and probably even NSW. SA has had top draft picks in recent years but many of these fade into forgotten players, Toumpas, Dunstan, Aish, Scharenberg, Mayes, Menzel (Troy), Durdin (maybe a bit harsh). Hopefully some of these guys can develop into elite players in the later stages of their careers along with the upcoming contingent of Francis, Milera, Burton, Hayward etc.

Brett Eddy is Victorian. As is Jack Viney, who didn't move to SA until he was 14. He's a vic metro boy.

HB: Heath Shaw - Jackson Trengove - Jack Newnes
MF: Dustin Martin - Rory Sloane - Andrew Gaff
HF: Toby Greene - Jeremy Cameron - Robbie Gray
FF: Joe Daniher - Tom Lynch - Christian Petracca
OB: Todd Goldstein - Josh P Kennedy - Daniel Hannebery
IC: Tom Rockliff - Luke Parker - Dylan Shiel - Marc Murphy

WA beats this

State of Origin is dead and it's not coming back. Players have no commitment or desire to put their hands up when the time comes, they are all talk!

NRL love it and to them it's a privilege to be apart of, major difference. End this thread as it's not coming back to AFL

So you are the one that gets to dictate what is and what is not allowed to be discussed on bigfooty?

Yeah but lets face it there's no less point to fawning over imaginary SOO sides than fawning over imaginary AA sides.
