Would take a brave man not to take Swan or Pendles vs GC but if Pendles doesn’t get up, NDS is my man. Amazing numbers and in red hot form of late with a 140 3-game ave and 128 5-game average :thumbsu:

Anyone gonna run the gauntlet with Gazza?

EDIT: scores in poll are last 5 matches against their opponent this week

Re: Round 18 Captain

It's in the poll mate :D

Buddy v Dees (116 - 108, 116, 112, 103, 139)

I just realised i didn't mention it was scores against that opponent d'oh

Re: Round 18 Captain

I've chosen Pendles, although it's still early in the week. You would think if they're going to rest him, now would be ideal.

Re: Round 18 Captain

A few good options this week.

Not sure about Pendles this week, they may rest him after the heavy knock on the weekend, I think he'll play but will be subbed off to give him a rest.

So it falls to a choice between 3 for me.

Ablett/Swan or Buddy?

Ablett - Collingwood generally don't play a tag so should get heaps of it, but his team will get thrashed.

Swan - has come back to almost last year's form now, a good option with doubts over Pendles.

Buddy - after watching Cloke dominate the Melb backline, have no doubts that Buddy will do the same. Should have 10+ shots at goal.

I'm going to go with Buddy for something different.

Re: Round 18 Captain

Petrie:
With what pods did against the lions last week and petrie's performance last week, I'm guessing no-one at the lions will stop him getting 150+.
Have more or less thought that Pendles will not play. Why risk him against GC?

Re: Round 18 Captain

No Cox option? I'm tossing up between him, goddard and buddy as i think there are too many unknowns among the others who could score massive. collingwood guys could get rested/subbed, gablett might not get enough of it if GC get smashed, and don't have any of the the others (NDS, boyd etc etc.)

EDIT: just saw priddis's stats against freo, very tempting.

Re: Round 18 Captain

I can't see the point in taking it off Pendles.

Re: Round 18 Captain

I'm going to take it off Pendles after quite a few weeks of him being my captain.

Reasons:
a) Mick said he will use the sub on a range of players, including our best players in the run up to the finals. It's a good opportunity to do that considering we are playing the Suns and Pendlebury received a knock last game.
b) He could be subbed early if he gets another shoulder bump and we are 50+ up.
c) He might be played out of position to give Rounds, Fasolo, Blair, etc more midfield time
d) He's due for a bad game
e) Gut feeling

Re: Round 18 Captain

Thinking of going the safe option of Swan, but I have Daisy and he could be a real POD and has been in red hot touch. Someone convince me to go daisy!

Valid points and some definite food for thought.

Bad game vs GC just seems highly unlikely though.

Re: Round 18 Captain

75% sure going with Pendlebury.

Both important cash league opponents have him and confident both will make him C. Call it the 'C cancel out approach' league wise.

Can he possibly have a bad game? I just don't see it. Thing that is doing my head in is cue a Swan monster scoring game...

Noticed this before but in Ablett's average/last 5 games against the Pies you don't have the 2010 preliminary final he played for 161, meaning his 5 game average is really 129.

Re: Round 18 Captain

Bartel. Starting to hit some form after his head (was poor versus Essendon, better versus West Coast especially after he took a strong overhead mark going with the flight and gained confidence out of it, and was one of Geelongs best vs Brisbane).

So hoping he continues this form, trying to choose different ones each week and see how I go (to an extent, I'm almost back to choosing Swan/Pendlebury)

Yeah that's probably gonna be the case because the way I get the scores is go to the player on FF then just go sc scores vs team. Probably means m0nty only includes h&a games.

I guess the other argument for not going Pendles is, assuming most no longer have Swan and Pendles seems the real obvious choice this week, if he does get subbed or whatever and you manage to pick the right skipper, you could gain as much as say 50-75 pts this week. Maybe not so relevant for those ranked quite high but this would be a definitely way to gain some handy points similar to what happened when Ablett played the Swans.

Obviously this is a double edged sword...

Re: Round 18 Captain

Speaking as someone who thought that way with his Chapman pick last week after backing Pendlebury most weeks prior... yeah. Double edged sword. And I obviously didn't pick it up with the hilt before I started swinging.

Re: Round 18 Captain

I think I've just worked out how to make my decision.

NSWCROW-
Who would you pick out of Pendlebury and Nick Dal Santo?

;)
