I'm going to a function next month, the bar at the club is selling beer at 1984 prices. No one I have asked can remember how much a pot/middy was & I can't find anywhere on the net that has it.:confused:

So can any BF posters remember?

Been to an "80s" night where they supposedly had 80's priced drinks..I seem to remeber pints being 4-5 dollars.

I think they were ripping you off. ;) I was thinking about $1.50 pot/middy, but I could be wrong.

Cheers Jim Boy, trying to work out how much money to take, seems that $20 will be more than enough. :thumbsu:

$20

Bus ride into the city, night at the Grenfell Tavern, Maccas, $2.50 each for a taxi and enough to buy the Sunday paper the next morning

I can recall pints being about $1.20-1.50 and ''schooners'' around 90c- $1.10

PC, aren't schooners bigger than middies? I thought the smaller ones were called ponies, well in Vic anyway.

$20 certainly doesn't go far these days, if you are going for a night on the town. ;)

Yes its hard to work out whats what

In WA a middy is 285 ml another is 425 but not a pint and a pint is 525ml

In SA it was Butcher 200ml Schooner 285ml and Pint 425ml , I also think ponys were 185ml but I could be mistaken

Actually a NSW Schooner is 425ml (same as SA pint). (mls confuse me - I still think in ounces). The old diggers still drink "sevens" - 7 ounce glasses

The spawn of the devil appearing now in Sydney city bars is the "schmiddy" - sized between a middy & a schooner, at schooner prices

<managed a pub in '86>

1984 prices.

Pots = $1.00 - $1.10
Pack of Cigs (25's) - $2.00ish

I need a time machine.

door charges were normally about $2 each too.

Used to go out with a pocket full of nice green $2 notes

Spot on Lidge... I still remember all the old derro's at the Burv cracking the sads because a pot went from 96 cents to $1.02 in about that year. It was about the same day dollar coins came out. Coincidence?

Only beer I had in 84 was sneaking a few sips from my grandfathers or uncles tinnys.... well I was 8 at the time:eek:
