Official Match Thread Season 41 Round 7: Gold City Royals vs Mount Buller Demons at The Golden Throne

It is fitting that Gold City Royals welcome Mount Buller Demons to The Golden Throne, as most of the Royals players believe the sim is genuinely taking a piss all over them. Having lost 20 of the last 21 games - and sitting rock bottom last - it’s at the point where if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry. No doubt the playing group has done a little of both lately.

Whether they are masochistic or have found something to lobotomise their pain, the Royals are overdue for a win - as the most massive understatement for the year. Fortunately, Pie 4 Life is creating the match threads, and usually I provide even the most dour individuals with luck, so I think they’ll have a great chance of finally winning. If they do, I will of course take all the credit as me posting a match thread is the only thing that happened a longer time ago than a Royals win.

Anyway, they face the Demons who are sitting 3-3 from the year, they’re coming off a pretty comfortable win over the Swamprats who only have the one win, and uh we’re not going to talk about it. Mount Buller has strung together back-to-back big wins and looked the goods, with DERO and nahnah sharing seven goals between them up front, while recruit pantskyle booted three from 23 touches in the midfield. Headless also played in the match.

Despite not being able to buy a win this season, the Royals have a great posting squad, lead by Robertio and Cadsky, while GreyCrow continues to get the job done through the ruck. No matter what they try, they cannot seem to get anything happening and to be nine goals down at half-time against the Wonders last week… it’s not great.

Anyway, a fun fact is in Robertio’s first game for the Royals he went statless but they beat the Furies. Not saying him having a Leon Davis

Grand Final performance every game could be the key to success, but I’m not, not saying that.

It’s very easy to tip Mount Buller here, but factoring in the first time in 20+ years I’ve actually done match threads, I think an equally impressive drought is about to be broken, so I’ll go with the Gold City Royals by nine points.
