His average disposals after he came back from the bye were the third highest for the side behind LDU and Sheeze and his third best career wise. In fact it was his third best year anyway but 2020 would have worked out better with full length games.

And in his last game he kicked the most goals he's ever kicked (nearly half the sides total) even tho we got flogged.

He's far from done.

Most of us on here know its the right choice. Onwards and upwards Jy.

I like Jy as sole captain a lot more than Jy and Luke as co-captains. And I've been a fan of Jy. But we shouldn't pretend he doesn't have his shortcomings. He won us the West Coast game with his hardness and excellent goalkicking, he lost us the other West Coast game with his stupid panicking under pressure. Vastly prefer him as a half forward and I'm hoping that's where he plays most of his footy this year, really don't want him to be attending a majority of centre bounces. We simply have better options in there now.

He’s not close to first choice midfield.

He also isn’t dynamic or powerful enough to play HF over Curtis, Zurhaar or Parker.

He’s neither one thing nor the other.

I think you're wrong about that.

One of the (actually I think it might've been the) last centre bounces, we're up by less than a goal, all we need to go is keep it in the contest and prevent west coast from moving it forward. Loose ball in front of him, he toe pokes it. I'll never forget it, exact wrong thing to do. Just acted without thinking as he often does. As soon as he did it I knew what would happen. And of course west coast gathered it and moved it forward. Is he the only reason we lost? No, of course not. But our captain should be the one with the cool head in that situation where there's a game to be won. He can be that cool head when he's having a shot for goal with minutes on the clock, he can't do it in the midfield because he's prone to making awful decisions under pressure.

Watch the replay of that bounce again.

I agree 100% with others hoping he’ll play as a modern half forward from here on.

He’s got the most important trait for the role - aerobic capacity - as well as strong tackling and a selfless attitude. Also a confident set shot when he gets the opportunity.

I think he could be one of the better ones in the league in the style of Neal-Bullen etc.

He might suffer a dip on the stats sheet but I reckon it could improve us as a unit substantially.

Sure a split second decision cost us. But rewatch the last qrt of that game and there were almost of whole team of players that made stupid decisions/failed skills that were just as bad, or even worse (Charlie says hi).
