At 25 his stats are pretty bleak even for a tall forward. I don't think I've noticed or seen him do anything ever.

This one would be right out of the box if he comes good.
Mate, he was the difference when we played Melbourne. We were actually pretty good that night.

What is it about this deal that has you worried? genuine question..

is it being 25? is it being a first round selection? is it taking games away from kids who could be close to competing for a spot? draft collateral we gave up for him? the list spot?

Started as the first ruck come finals in the VFL. Seems he will play the second ruck role to help Draper similar to Phillips while also supporting up forward.

If he can kick 25 goals next year playing as the second ruck it’s a win.

swans 0.2, 22 touches and 19 hitouts
lions 1.1 14 touches and 37 hitouts
Southport 0.0 18 touches and 35 hitouts

The way I look at it, is that with Francis gone, we needed a new whipping boy. Langford cant carry that role (or the one he is supposed to for that matter) all on his own.

Him on the list makes it more difficult to see if young tall can play.
‘he is the definition of a list clogger.
‘I hope I am proven wrong

He's not in the way of Eyre or Brand. They would have been played by now if they were good enough.

I think his recruitment tells you all you need to know about the speculative talls.

Reid and Cox are defenders. Brand is a defender and might make it. McBridge is no good. Voss looks good but he’s more of a third tall. Baldwin lacks the pace due to his knee injuries for AFL level football.

Jones, Reid, Cox and Voss are the most likely to make it at AFL level.

We were fortuitous Wright didn’t get injured, Weideman gives immediate depth and competition to every other tall forward, and mature support to Wright in what is generally an extremely young and inexperienced football side.

In our generally unbalanced list the emerging talls category is the biggest domino.

No way can we carry this many into 2024.

In the absolute best case scenario Cox, Reid and Jones show enough for us to that they are going to be our version of Curnow, Weitering, and McKay, and the others get enough exposure this year so that instead of 2 delistings we get a bit of trade capital out of one or two of McBride, Eyre and Brand.

After more consideration, feel one of Eyre of Brand will be moved on this off season. Brand probably the better runs on the board, Eyre the much higher upside

50:50 toss of the coin really

If that does confirm the question marks over the young tall (forwards) then would not surprise me at al if we took a KPF, even late in the draft and throw another dart at it (landing a reasonable AFL standard key forward)

I think it now depends on who is available out of the delisted or VFL players pool. The spot for one (or both) of these players would almost certainly be thought of as a direct swap.
