I am assuming that as Maxwell did not even train last week that he will not be ready for next week.

No Maxy said that if game had been on a Sunday he would have played. So he should be a starter for Rd 2

Re: Collingwood v Richmond Round 2 Team changes

If Maxy trains at all this week, he'll play, unlike the others who have been missing, he's had a strong pre season.

If the footage on "The Club" was any indication he'll play this week, as he had no crutches last week at all.

Re: Collingwood v Richmond Round 2 Team changes

Assuming Maxwell plays:-

Obrien Tarrant Shaw
Maxwell Reid Toovey
Swan Ball Beams
Paine Cloke Thomas
Fasalo Dawes Blair

Jolly Pendles Sidebottom

inter Wood, Johnson, Goldsack Clarke or Seedsman or Rounds

Not sure why but i can't see Tarrant playing. I think he'll get another week off.

Re: Collingwood v Richmond Round 2 Team changes

In: Ugle, Tarrant, Beams, Maxwell
Out: Rounds, Keefe, Yagmoor, Seedsman/Sinclair

Give Sidebottom more time in the middle and let Ugle be our deisgnated small forward.

Out: Paine, Yagmoor, Sinclair

No Way I would Drop Paine and I think Ceglar was better then Wood Today

Re: Collingwood v Richmond Round 2 Team changes

I thought Paine did pretty well for a first game, looked like he belonged and after a couple of weeks I'm sure he'll find his feet and adjust.

Re: Collingwood v Richmond Round 2 Team changes

Oh, and hope that the following two weeks will see:

vs Carlton: In - Tarrant, Wellers; Out - Keeffe, Seedsman

Vs Port: In - Didak, Johnson; Out - Rounds, Clarke

But a lot can change before then with form and injuries. Bring back youngsters and/or some newbies (eg Witts, Ugle, Elliott, JThomas) against the lower rated teams if it pans out that way, and let a few vets have their rest.

Not doubting it. Paine would be stiff, but if we give Jolls some ruck help with Wood and give Dawes back to the forward line, then we'd be top heavy to keep Paine up forward as well.

Depending on the Reid ankle/Goldy shoulder situation, I wouldn't mind seeing Paine play a few games behind the ball either at VFL or AFL as a third defensive tall.

Re: Collingwood v Richmond Round 2 Team changes

Out: Yagmoor and Paine

In: Beams and Wood

If Maxwell is right to go then Sinclair misses. Paine is very stiff however going forward IMO our ideal set up should be Jolly and Wood rucking together rather than Dawes. It works well this week to because we can exploit Richmond's lack of quality height down back.

Beams and Wood are also the only ones that have had the minimum of 150 minutes that the coaching staff want before they're brought into the seniors.

Re: Collingwood v Richmond Round 2 Team changes

I will seriously be in total disbelief if Taz is not back next week.

He flew through the game today and looked fit and strong and fired up.

Beams also, though that is slightly more in doubt than Taz, given the nature of the positions they'll play.

Re: Collingwood v Richmond Round 2 Team changes

How far is brown from returning
Brown might not even make his VFL debut until the weekend of the Carlton game, but there's a chance he may play a half next week out at Vic Park.

I still have a dream of Nate returning for ANZAC day, but I think it will be a few weeks after that before he plays senior footy again.

My shot at the ins and outs;

Out: Yagmoor, Seedsman, Sinclair, Rounds
In: Maxwell, Tarrant, Beams, Ugle

Ugle to replace Sinclair up forward.

We have to continue to give young players games, but only if they earn them, Seeds and Yagz were out of their depth the other night, and while they might perform better against a lesser side in the Tigers, with Taz, Maxy and Beams returning they go out, for now.

Ugle performed well all pre season at VFL level, and only got one shot at senior level (where he failed), he's earned another shot.

I think it'll be about round 6. If we can get him in by then we can give Reid a rest that week and that should give us a big chance to have them two plus Taz raring to go for round 8 v Geelong.

I hope i get to see him round 6. It's the only game i get to go to all year :/

Taz and beams both fit and ready for next week. Johnno as well.

It's very unfortunate that wellingham is running around in the seconds.

Out: yagamoor, goldsack if inj and ????
In; taz, beams, maxy and johnno

Edit: forgot wood. Dammit to hard!! Your problem bucks and co...

Re: Collingwood v Richmond Round 2 Team changes

I would be disappointed if Sinclair and Rounds were dropped.

I question the wisdom of having a debutant as a sub. It's hard enough for a first gamer to get the feel, pace and intensity of AFL football, without having the added pressure of having to pick it up in less than half a game.

I don't want to see more than two players brought in next week, simply because it does not matter whether you are a rookie or a veteran, nothing beats match fitness. Having three players or more come back after injury, at the same time, is simply asking for trouble.

In: Maxwell, Wood
Out: Yagmoor, Seedsman

Sub: Rounds

And if ever you needed to understand why Maxy is so important to our team, then have a listen to buck's press conference. He makes mention of the fact that at times, our players were caught too far forward of the ball, and were exposed (paraphrasing a little). I bet with Maxy in the team, players would not be so out of position as much. That's why he is needed.

He also relieves Harry O of the third up role in defense, which quite clearly he isn't up to. With Maxy back, hopefully Harry O can do what he does best - run, break the lines and use that booming kick of his.

And we need a small defender.
