Only one year for Markov would have preferred two
Three for Dave seems too long. 2 years would have been plenty

He's got the speed, he's got the carry, he's got a beautiful kick and he has a really long pole that he inherited from his father's side.
Everyone lock up your daughters, girlfriends and wives or else he will find them...

With Lake being absent for most of the season someone needed to stand up and be counted and Markovic did a great job at filling...
Hey, just having a look at some of the mature age pickups of 2010. Some pretty good contributors amongst this lot.
EDIT: Please change the second Duigan to "Curnow". Thanks.
Has gone from Hawthorn rookie reject to holding together our Backline. :thumbsu:
Past all expectations IMO, with Lake out of form\injured he has really stepped up.
...game time along with a bigger push to see the resting ruck playing in the forward pocket as the game goes on and this allows someone like a Markovic to be used as a sub. Now sure he can not play all positions in case of injury but with Markovic as a sub you could push Morris to a smaller...
Both seem to be pretty solid contributers yet don't get spoken about too much. I personally feel both would most likely be better options than a few guys running around at the moment and i don't think it could really hurt the team too much by giving them maybe 1 or 2 games to see if their up to...
BRENT DIAMOND
November 29, 2009
THE Western Bulldogs have another potential back-up option for valuable defender Brian Lake after giving former Hawthorn rookie Lukas Markovic a second chance in the national draft.
Article in full...
Just reading around about the draft. Adelaide and Carlton are interested in Coad and in the Phantom Draft yesterday Brisbane are interested in Markovic.

Last year, Sturt defender Michael Coad missed out on an...
Michael Coad vs Lukas Markovic vs Matt Maguire
or others
I was just woundering where everyone rates these 3
1 Markovic - youngest, could be the best cover - however looks alittle slow
2 Coad - hard to comment on someone i havn't seen live but worried about the injury he had 07 (i...
Was rookie listed by us in 2006.. then delisted.. now having seen him play for BHH.. & seeing what a great job he did at FB.. im conviced he deserves a 2nd chance.. better selection then either Coad or Carroll for that CHB spot :thumbsu:
Lukas Markovic 192cm 92kg 22yo
...it be?
I can't see the Hawks drafting both of them so this could become a very relevant question.
Personally, I would definitely go with Markovic. With the inclusion of Gibson, our defense is no longer in such desperate need for that mature defender(Coad).
Plus.
He already plays for Box...
Anyone who saw his game today would have to agree that he is a class above the VFL.
He had an outstanding game.
He lead from the front, Took the game on, Plucked some terrific marks, Showed that he can hit targets on either foot, I think that his defensive efforts were fantastic when spoiling...
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.
Lot of regular BHill watchers talked this guy up during the year and some even suggested he might be our next CHB.
Was he in the draft?
If not might he be in rookie draft or pre season draft?
Cheers in advance.
It seems the big footy rookie hopeful has been invited to draft screenings. Unlike the draft between 1 and 4 clubs have to nominate you to get invited to the screenings. You would think Hawthorn wouldnt invite the youngster after having him on the list already and also having a close look at him...
I've noticed this guy keeps bobbing up in the Box Hill Best, firstly I've got a few questions regarding this guy:
What positions can he play
Whats his height, weight and fitness tests
What do we need to do in order to draft him next year
Whats his first name
How old is he
Do any of the Box Hill or Croydon insiders know of what young Lucas intends to do for footy in '08? Lucas, are you out there yourself, or any of your mates? Hopefully, you stick around with Box Hill. Under the tutelage of Barry Mitchell, and the blokes that he's already attracted, on the back of...
A lot of people on this Board who know more about the going-on's of Box Hill than I do seem to be upset at the fact we didn't re-rookie Markovic.
Was he really that impressive a prospect? I'm hazy over the details - but why did we delist him?
One for the Box Hill followers. He was rookied by us and then dropped but he obviously is back playing again. This shows we still have interest and also he doesn't resent playing with Box Hill even though he isn't listed.
He is a KPP and in a weaker draft could he be considered as a late...
