Adelaide - B+
Solid draft for the Crows and the most predictable as the draft nights approached with them getting locals Sid Draper and Tyler Welsh. Both should be just about ready to go with Draper adding some slickness to Adelaide's midfield. It's hard to argue against his selection...
There are Smith and Pickett in recent years, however there is a danger in overvaluing one performance in a year. Any position can support a player tearing a game apart. It's more, the league has seen a shift away from wingers being important.
There haven't been many in recent times.
Geelong...
Sure, but they came from the same place. You had no idea what a good winger looked like statistically and went off half-crocked on some fantasy.
Here is a better stat for damage, because goal assist is just cherry picking an argument when Sholl put up 12 goals himself (and note: not many...
Here are all the players that made an All Australian team that were drafted at pick 30 or later in the national draft since 2011.
VIC: 9
WA: 4
SA: 3
NSW: 1
QLD: 1
2011: Elliot Yeo (WA) pick 30
2011: Lachie Neale (SA) pick 58
2013: Aliir Aliir (WA) pick 44
2013: Darcy Byrne-Jones (VIC) pick 52...
Push the HQ, haha that's a good one. The HQ doesn't need a push.
That reminds me is anyone watching LachieJones's videos about his HJ? It's good that he's stepped up to replace the void left by Dixon in the club.

Because he would need the AFL to go through and make a change to the zoning around encompassing the metropolitan areas of Adelaide for the Next Generation academy. This will never happen to favour Port
Why shouldn't it be allowed? If the Cochrane family can prove their indigenous heritage, then how is it any different to Port's previous NGA pick 16 LachieJones?
Leadership? Carlton? If that were the case we wouldn't be having a mini-rebuild right now.
I was leaning ever so slightly towards the singular pick in the previous rundowns, but this has me leaning more towards taking multiple picks.
I would prefer multiple picks regardless, but I think...
Really you want 3-5 v 12-17 ???
2023 - Zane Duursma, Nick Watson and Ryley Sanders v Will Green, James Leake, Darcy Wilson, Taylor Goad, Charlie Edwards, Will Dawson. - Too early to call
2022 - George Wardlaw, Elijah Tsatas and Bailey Humphrey v Mathew Jefferson, Max Michalanney, Josh Weddle...
Adding to this, a better comparison would be to assess the average of the results of pick 3 to 5 versus say the average of pick 11-15 to take away the element of shitty picks at that range. It will elimate the outlier to a degree.
OK a comparison for the #3 selection v the #12 and #14 (Excluding F/S or Academy picks because they were never in contention anyway)
2023 - Zane Duursma v Will Green and Darcy Wilson
2022 - George Wardlaw v Mathew Jefferson and Josh Weddle
2021 - Mac Andrew v Campbell Chesser and Darcy Wilmot...
...Houston, Burton and Farrell playing there. Fantastic kicks but wanting for defending. One, maybe two is enough.
I would have Farrell, LachieJones, Evans - I don't to call him Levans anymore and Sinn all of which are athletic and can compete one on one. They aren't as good as Houston...
2014 was a very interesting draft. Outside of De Goey and Petracca no absolute elite players. Heeney, Steele and Moore father son / academy players but otherwise a handful of good but not great options.
At Pick #7 would we have looked at Peter Wright, Liam Duggan, Corey Ellis, Nakia Cockatoo...
Fair. But we were persisting with small forwards (2 now delisted) that weren't going to help us win a flag. I'd rather have given Lorenz way more games to see if he can. Not sure about others coz I haven't got the patience to watch our reserves anymore. It's way too frustrating.
The only thing this doesn’t take into account is the other teams that would’ve been interested in those players
But by no means were any of them out-of-nowhere reaches like Doedee. Hell, the Hamish special picks like Hamill and Oscar Ryan were closer to Doedee-type picks
