...a spot in defence is also a matter of intrigue, as is the flow-on effect for TomMcCartin, who shifted back for the win over Fremantle. CaidenCleary could also be considered for a senior recall this week, possibly in place of Papley, after picking up 37 disposals in the VFL two weeks ago...
Don’t see the need to change a winning side there’s no point, if it’s Sheldrick out for Cleary fine but I’d see more benefit in CC getting another full VFL game.
I’d be giving Hayward/Hanily one last chance and probably taking one out the next week. The two rucks stay in this week, best one...
He played in pre-season, aside from the GC game, looked at least at Sheldrick's level and was coming off good form last year.
If you watched Caiden's VFL match and still happily leave him out of the side while playing out of form players, then I don't know what I could say to change your mind...
It's interesting that Cleary was voted BOG for us (deservedly IMO), but he didn't garner a mention in McVeigh's review, whilst Francis, Paton, Longmire & Shipley all did.
Makes me wonder if maybe Cleary is still more in the naughty corner than we think.

Thanks Rusty.
Given that Logan, Mills and Cunningham have been off their feet for a while I reckon a couple of games in the 2s to pick up match fitness might be the go. Melican probably has a better fitness base. Adams and Fox coming back to the 2s most likely anyway.
...his return to play timeline will become clearer. Brodie Grundy will enjoy the week off after handling the majority of the ruck work so far this season, while CaidenCleary made a statement in the VFL on the weekend, picking up 37 disposals in his first game since his drug ban ended. – Martin...
CaidenCleary could become an option for a dud rookie in the next month.
He was huge in the VFL today and was ahead of Sheldrick and Corey Warner in PS before the club found out about the coke.
I reckon he comes straight in after our bye unless it's a great all-round team performance tomorrow...
Match report:

From the VFL website:
CaidenCleary was back in action and making the most of his opportunities in Sydney's 25-point loss to Collingwood.
The 20-year-old racked up 37 disposals and eight clearances in a dominant...
It looks like the only AFL listed players will likely be:
Ned Bowman
CaidenCleary
Will Edwards
Aaron Francis
Will Green
Indhi Kirk
Blake Leidler
And whichever of the extended bench players haven't gone over to Perth.
Open, free flowing. There has not been 100 points score by either team;

...were all mentioned in the coaches’ post-game presser. Sid Mitchell seems to have fallen off the radar, but is still an option. CaidenCleary’s nose issue has reportedly resolved and he is also available for selection.
Coaches under pressure tend to take a conservative approach and its...
How are you measuring it? Gulden, Campbell and Stephens all played inside in their draft year.
While we have had players who played on the wing in their draft year (like Roberts, Mitchell and Vickery) however plenty of times players don't end up in their positions they do as kids. Serong was a...
If you look back im pretty sure Mills is the 5th more recent complete inside midfielder we drafted and he was a decade ago.
CaidenCleary
Angus Sheldrick
Chad Warner
James Rowbottom
Callum Mills
George Hewett
Tom Mitchell
Luke Parker
I may have missed a couple of players that didn't kick on...
...back from long term injuries, noticeable change in body shape, social media posts and other observations.
So is it PEDs rather than cocaine ?
Was CaidenCleary trying to buy coke or roids?

Was a good reason GC got rid of him, there had to be. I hope this is not another Harley Bennell, he's so talented and you hate to see young players/men wreck their careers off the field.

Suspended last year for some CaidenCleary style antics.
Despite Carlton trotting out the mandatory “his welfare is our no.1 priority” line, I reckon they’d be a tad frustrated. They’ve invested heavily.
