    Brisbane vs Port grand final

I'm hoping for a Swans v Giants GF, but I'd be happy to throw Brisbane into the mix. Any GF without a VIC team or the powder is a good GF.

Opinion Sack Hinkley 11 - Gentlemen, this is democracy manifest

Sorry guys, this will be a longer one. The 2024 Port Adelaide Memberships volume sits at 55,155 according to https://www.footyindustry.com/2024/03/29/afl-and-nrl-club-membership-updates-march-29th-2024/. That's down from 64,041 in 2023. I'll treat this as conservative in ports' favor, ignoring...

Review R13: The Good, Bad and Ugly vs. Richmond Tigers

Good: Richmond kicked it up a notch. No-one can argue that they fell into the win. Bad: The depth of our team is non-existent. There is a significant gap between the old guard and the new blood, no-one to fill in the gaps. Ugly: With Tasmania coming through, any chance of trading our way to...

Review Good bad ugly vs Port Adelaide R8 2024

While some of their shots were difficult, I think most of them were entirely possible.

Review Good bad ugly vs Port Adelaide R8 2024

Ugly. In that 4th quarter Port broke through our defenses repeatedly, with multiple shots on goal. If half of those had been accurate, we'd have lost.

    Review SHOWDOWN 55

Going to be honest, the last 10 minutes or so was a bit worrying. Port seemed to be cracking straight through the Crows defense with impunity, with more than enough shots on goal to win the game if they'd been accurate. I couldn't consider the game in the bag until maybe 3 minutes to go.

Opinion Unpopular opinion about your own club

They changes our song lyrics from "We're the mighty Adelaide Crows" to "and we're known as the Adelaide Crows" for no good reason, and it stinks, and I hate it, and the club has been on a downward spiral since this insipid change and NO ONE SEEMS TO SEE THE CORRELATION!

Gather Round 2024 - Welcome back to South Australia.

Howdy folks. First off, I'd like to welcome everyone who's planning to travel to South Australia for the upcoming Gather Round. Like last year, we're putting together a hell of a celebration of all things Australian Rules Football. The mighty Woodville West Torrens Eagles are hosting Carlton...

Opinion Sack Hinkley 10 - UnTENable

I've said it before. A team that can't win showdowns won't win premierships. If the coach can't fire up their team against their state rivals in a significant match, they can't fire them up against interstate rivals when it counts.

Mega Thread VICBias - Genuine Discussion

Sorry the truth hurts. The world is a globe, there's no such thing as chemtrails, and the port adelaide power afl team was built on a foundation of betrayal, ego and bastardry. You can accept this, or keep drinking the koolaid.

Mega Thread VICBias - Genuine Discussion

I couldn't disagree more. The Crows already existed, as the team for all South Australians. From memory, Norwood, Glenelg and one other club sought to create a second team, which would naturally attract their fans to the new side. Instant substantial supporter base. Instead, they went with port...

Mega Thread VICBias - Genuine Discussion

What a silly comment. Norwood stuck with the rest of the SANFL clubs to hold out from the dodgy deal. Port underhandedly tried to screw over the SANFL because they thought they were bigger than the league, and in the end gave the AFL the ammunition to force the SANFL to accept the deal. Power...

Mega Thread VICBias - Genuine Discussion

Sorry to break it to you, but this is the truth that port adelaide have been trying to hide since those dark days. The truth stands, but you won't hear it from the black, white and teal. They want to forget it, create a myth of them being the underdogs, and pretend to be a team of inclusion...

Mega Thread VICBias - Genuine Discussion

Yes, I do. At the time, the SANFL was still going strong, with a strong league and a strong fanbase. The VFL brought in WA and QLD to fill their coffers, but they needed SA on board to expand into the next biggest territory. The ball was in the SA court.

Mega Thread VICBias - Genuine Discussion

Note that when the SANFL did propose to enter, the VFL knocked it back. The SANFL was making the application from a position of power, and the VFL didn't like the deal. Completely different circumstances to when the AFL came back with a smoking port adelaide gun in their hand and essentially...

Mega Thread VICBias - Genuine Discussion

In my opinion, the current vic bias can be squarely laid on the shoulders of the port adelaide football club. In the 80's there were three strong aussie rules leagues. The VFL had money, the SANFL had heritage, and the WAFL had gumption and spirit. VFL teams were able to buy premierships by...

Opinion Sack Hinkley 9 - I Am Become Donuts, Destroyer Of Ports

It's a far cry from "We exist to win Premierships", and is a damning indictment on the culture of the club at the moment.

Difference between the atmosphere at a Port Power vs Pride of South Australias home games?

One of the few things the power did well 10 years back was rebrand themselves. Rather than harping on their successful magpie "history" in the SANFL they acted like the underdogs, the upstarts, the young and fresh working class against the old and stale chardonnay set. It appealed to younger...

Strategy A vote of no confidence

I think most supporters of other clubs do, but those clubs haven't been dribbling the "we exist to win premierships" mantra. I mean the whole idea fails when there's no won premierships, raising the question "Why do you exist?" If I was a conspiracy freak, I'd think Kochie and Hinkley were...

Opinion Sack Hinkley 9 - I Am Become Donuts, Destroyer Of Ports

Legitimate question. Can the power afford to sack Hinkley now? Budget wise, is there enough in the petty cash drawer to pay out Hinkley for the rest of his contract, while paying for the coach to replace him?

Opinion Non-Crows AFL 8 - Daddy Donuts Delivers Dream Drubbing

There's a big, big sound From the moist end of town It's the cries of the power faithful. Their seasons' come undone Their finals run is done And their boastful song sounds shameful. It was theirs to win 'til they choked again Now they're turning on each other. They're the fairweather fans of...

The theme song, and why I won't renew my membership.

These are all valid responses, let me see if I can respond. Maybe it's because I'm getting older and grumpier and less tolerant of people screwing around with stuff that works fine just for the sake of it. Maybe it's because the membership drive is trying to call it my club, my history, my...

The theme song, and why I won't renew my membership.

I don't post much or often, but this has been bugging me for a while. The first chorus used to be "We're the pride of South Australia, we're the mighty Adelaide Crows". Sometime later they rejigged the theme song, and turned that lyric into "We're the pride of South Australia, and we're known...

Fixture Gather Round - SA announced as host for next 3 years 2024-2026

It's been an interesting thread, moving from "This is a stupid idea, it'll never work" to "The idea has merit, but SA is the wrong place" right up to "The event is a success, but every state should get a turn now". Reading back through the early comments, there's some people eating their words...
