Rain mightn't kick in till after 6pm so we may actually have dryish game. Slippery as all hell no doubt. I was hoping for more of this today but alas the weather gods won't be providing.
How's Jai Culley going? Form warranting a recall should the opportunity arise? I was devastated when he went down with injury last season...I'm worried he won't make it past his contract if he doesn't get a chance in the seniors.
48 is way too many for soccer as it is. 20 is perfect for T20 World cups given upsets happen semi regularly in the format and lesser nations are excelling at it too. I'm sure there'd be haters but a 24 team world T20 wouldn't be out of the question soon
Fritsch is quality and Ben Brown was still a force back then.
Forward line wise it's hard to be worse than the 2006 Eagles. After Quentin Lynch who is there? Ash Hansen, Steven Armstrong, resting ruck, resting midfielder. Midfielders kicked all the goals for that team.
Barry Hall is lining up for goal after the siren in 2006 from the boundary line in an alternate universe.
The same alternate universe that Sampi gets a free and kick after the siren in 2005.
He couldn't have come to the club at a worst time let's be honest. Just as the COVID season hit, and our downward trajectory went into overdrive, was all parallel to landing the big recruit for our last premiership tilt. Of course he's the scapegoat.
Look at our list in 2020. The fact they...
Would a random practice game played on neutral territory from the mid 90s even have much of anything reported on it? Without the coverage that the 21st century has bought I'd imagine many a practice game has been lost throughout history.
Gaff for sure. OOC and hasn't been near the side since being dropped after round 1. Darling will definitely go around again. Has had a mini resurgence since about round 5. Sheed might get the tap too, he's only playing due to injuries atm.
2025/26 when Yeo/McGovern/Cripps & possibly Barrass all...
The Windies and USA should hopefully have some slower pitches on offer this world cup to even it out a bit. I do expect some associates to concede 220 plus in the group stage however.
Jesus that Hawks team...average age of 23, total of only 1303 games with three over 100 (Smith, Dixon, Barker, none of whom were there in 2008)
Yet they still smashed Richmond who had 1900+ games experience and 7 with over 100 games.
I have a vague recollection of Hawthorn playing Richmond at York Park in the early 2000s when both were dogshit. Imagine the uproar of that fixture now! Only interstate teams and North/Bulldogs get that trip now.
Soccer refs need to essentially have the attitude of a bouncer in the worst parts of Perth on a Saturday night. If only AFL umpires carried themselves the same way...
