Thanks Tom for your time at Freo, especially the effort you always 100% put in and also your time you spent at Starlight. Good luck for the rest of your career, you are still young and I hope you find a new footy home somewhere.
I will be looking closely at Drapes next time he stands next to Moose to see if he might have grown an inch. Currently they say he is 4 cm shorter than Alex. 197 vs 201 cm. He has a good leap, speed and athleticism and we know he will get stronger. Lets hope he is still growing.
Im trying to wrap my head around what our strategy should be and in the end I feel it all comes down to what has been said or not said in conversations between the club and Chad and Kozzy.
If we know, for example that Chad wants to come to us and is prepared to nominate us, then he comes...
I just cant see Davies replacing Pearce. Murphy I must admit I haven’t seen enough of to form an opinion. Does anyone who has watched him feel comfortable he is the heir apparent?
Im more worried about what happens long term if Moose goes down?
Im not convinced Cox, Draper, Davies or Murphy are natural replacements.
At some point in the next two seasons I feel we should be looking for a direct replacement for Moose.
I understand we have MacDonald as depth but Moose going...
Man I am so over the Hogan/King conversations, (not aimed at u serial thriller) I dont even read them. I really couldnt care less.
I am just so wrapped we have the two best young key forwards in the game. Just like I used to go to the footy to just see Fyfe tear opponents a new one every week...
Bell is one of Freos greatest players and would probably make the best ever Dockers team.
Bailey, who is a good solid depth player and a salt of the earth bloke, will not be in our starting 23 next year, (if no injuries).
And Im not a hater of the Uncanny X Man, in some ways he is a fave but...
I dont want Baker because he is only a marginal upgrade on the guy you are going to drop to get him in the team, whether that be Freddy, Switta or a Wagner and he will by definition therefore, cost too much.
Shai on the other hand will replace the legend Son Son and should be a worthy heir and...
Obviously this is just my selection, others will have something different.
Walker Pearce Chapman
Ryan Cox Clark
Sharp Fyfe ODriscoll
Sturt Treacy Frederick
Bolton Amiss Switta
Darcy Brayshaw Serong
Young Johnson Wagner Jackson
NOD is not vying for an inside mid spot - at least not yet. He is vying for the Banfield/JOM/Johnson skinny side wing and in my opinion, if he can maintain or improve upon his form in the last 4 or so games, including the last game he played for Freo, he has gone past them.
Whether JLo agrees...
Congrats to Raz on his dual medals and the professional and mature approach it appears he has taken to the various frustrations that have come his way this season watching his colleague Johnson and others being given all the opportunities and himself having to bide his time, put his head down...
Baileys not in our B22 though. If you are talking half forward line its Freddy, Sturt, Switta or Shai Bolton he would have to replace.
Its starting to get real tough to select these players.
You are really talking about Swittas and Boltons hybrid mid/forward role.
I think NOD based on his last 4 games and given an uninterupted pre season should force his way now into the senior side on to the opposite wing from Sharp. The obvious candidate to drop for him I think would be O’Meara. I think based on expected output NOD>JOM now.
Will be hard to get Raz in...
So assuming NOd and Sharp play on the wings, Chapman stays back forcing Drapes to play at Peel and Fyfe and Raz wax a midfielder position off and on, who do you drop for Baker?
Dont say Walters as Ive already got Bolton in his position.
Dont say O’Meara, Aish, Emmett or Banners as I already...
