Yeah he’s getting a fair pump up but he seems like a mature lad. I think he’ll take it in his stride.
Seems humble and level-headed. Pretty sure the confidence that Cox had in him and the support of his teammates will be the best boost.
I just love his ability so far to choose his targets so well and then hit them.

Can't believe I tuned into AFL Bice and On the Bice and the only mention was getting 1 vote in Lyon's MVP award. Pfft.

I am not sure they completely thought it all through when they decided to create that award.

It's going to be a pretty exciting leaderboard when the leader had 7 votes at round 22.

Cox mentioned in an interview with SEN that Bicey only arrived at Werribee in February of 2024 so actually missed their preseason. So to have had the season he had in 2024 was very impressive. He arrived at the Swans having not done too much strength and repetition work. Given the start he has had to his AFL career, I'd say Bicey is a natural footballer - the sort of guy who in the past could've smoked a winnie blue and drank a stubby at half time and still be best on ground. Hopefully in the process of becoming a fulltime professional, his inherent flair and vision doesn't get suppressed.

Doesn't look like it so far and from what was said he has licence to go for what he sees.
Also super impressive is that his defensive work is up to scratch, which would probably be the bigger risk so early. Great story.

Just something I noticed watching the replay of the Port game (following the loss to the Pies in Gather Round)...

Teams seem to be onto Bice. Well, at least Collingwood & Port were. You could actually see them move and shift off their opponents ahead of the ball to take other players who Bice might target with the "difficult" kick. They were fine with leaving a shorter opponent for Bice to target but both sides actually did a really good job at blocking Bice's more attacking kicks.

This was really obvious because when other players would get the ball in the defensive half for us - players like Wicks, Rowy, Melican etc. - they were suddenly leaving long-range and cross-field targets wide open. Most likely because they weren't on high alert for these players pulling off the difficult kicks in the same way they would've been for Bice, Blakey, etc.

So teams are doing their homework, not just on Bice specifically, but on our kicking game. Bice's game so far has been pretty reliant on kicking, so it'll be a good challenge to see how he adapts. To his credit, he sort of started to adapt on the fly during the Port game, taking the game on more with speed and gaining meterage through running, bouncing and dishing off by hand instead a few times.

Mentioned in the autopsy thread that Bice made a terrific run from the left pocket up to the wing when he was blocked. He's not a one-trick pony. Also bloody quick!

11 at 53% thought he really tried, but looked ordinary last night, has been struggling of late, teams don’t give him space.

Easy to forget he is an AFL rookie, has a bit to work through
