Provisional 2025 Draft order

Doesn’t work like that for out of contract players, only restricted free agents (and only those who don’t like the contracted offered to them) who want to move to another club.

Worpel is a restricted free agent, but he would have to accept a contract offer from West Coast to force Hawthorn to match.

Could only walk one player through the PSD, as it’s based on ladder order, so Hawthorn draft the second player.
Don't you have somewhere else to be?

Is it boring in the reigning premiers threads that you have to troll the lower clubs threads?

I dont understand that at all Gross has been outstanding in a area of need
It does not matter if he is first pick or last pick of draft form is what counts
While Bo will play as a defender not currently as big a need as mids
He may well be and I hope is. My point was that you would hope that your higher picks would be playing most weeks, which is not happening. I wasn't degrading the players only suggesting that our drafting and recruiting in my opinion could sharpen up a tad.

Right.

We’ll have players like Hough, Long, Davis, Gross in the side while Chesser, Hewett, Allan are out of the side.

It’s good that we are seeing AFL level traits in our later picks. But people are desperate for our first round picks to come on.

I wonder if we’re speaking to a few of the W.A. lads and which would be our preferred option.

Curtin, Garcia, Sheldrick, Walters, Jones, Collard, Tholstrup, Hardeman and Adams??

Easy tiger (lion). While We_The_West used the word "match", I believe they are simply talking about stacking up enough cash to encourage the player to request a trade (if we're willing to pay more than Hawthorn are).

I am just gutted that our first pick from last year can't get a game before pick 40 something and pick 7000 or so. Shows how shit our TRADING and recruiting has been. **** sake Chesser, now Hewett can't play more than 4 games in a row. We my friends are fast becoming like St Kilda and Footscray stuck in mediocrity However we aren't even mediocre yet,it will be years before we are even competitive.

Bo Allan was sick a few weeks ago and lost something like 6-10kgs from memory. Is now regaining conditioning.

Before that was tracking for a spot in the round 1 team.

Even when he’s up and running, who’s he going to replace?

Probably Maric so we have one young bloke pushing out another from a role on a flank, meanwhile we have no midfield.

our drafting sucks ass (except for talls) .

Go touch some grass, your negativity has spiraled past ep2018 levels.

I know. It's insane. I'm not generally a negative person at all, but seeing where we are at after rebuilding for four years, it's genuinely a huge concern.

I can't remember the last time this club got a single decision right, from drafting, trading, selection. Maybe the club is spiralling and I'm just following it.

We've got 3 players debuting this week, 2 later picks and an SSP signing in Brock.
Dewar, Archer Reid and Maric have all stepped up this year.

If you can't see positives from that, like I said go touch grass because you aren't looking very hard and seem mired in your negativity.

Dom, i think you're spiralling a bit. West Coast is doing things right, and theres already some really good things to come out of this season, and its only round 4 (Maric, Dewar, A.Reid, beating the Lions for 3 quarters). Not the clubs fault carlton are dogshit, or chess is too injury prone. Bo doesn't come in for Maric but he certainly makes the team

I don't want to gift Bo a game. If he's locked in to play in defence he should only play when his form warrants selection and another defender is either injured or out of form.

Besides Edwards our backs have been more than serviceable.

We currently have 5 forward pockets/half forward flankers/wingers, who between them average 54 touches (under 11 touches a person per game), and have contributed a total of 10 goals in 15 games (three games x 5 players). I think we can find a spot for Bo...

Drop any of Long, Owies, Brockman, Cripps, Hunt, and move Kelly/Reid/anyone else forward a bit more.

Sure, but you'd think you'd draft someone who can play mid from the get go, since that's the area we all know needs to be addressed pretty urgently.
Playing full time inside or balanced mid at an AFL level from get go in year 1 is extremely rare. None of the following players were able to do so
Nick Daicos
Petracca
LDU
Merret
Rowell
Anderson
A Brayshaw
Serong
Callahan
Fyfe
Pat Cripps
Dangerfield
......

The only one I can think of in our current pool is The Bont.

So yes, I wish our recruiters could find a Bont each and every year. Great idea and thanks for playing.

Bontempelli did average 15 touches 50/50 on contested/uncontested, but only 2 clearances a game in his first year.

As you pointed out, even Daicos who was awesome in year 1, was playing unaccountable football of half back, and his first 2 years he was borderline allergic to contested footy. It was in his third year it actually all came together for him.

ATG, please go read my post again "can play mid from the get go" does not mean "playing full time inside" as you suggest.

If you go and take what I actually said - a player who can play mid in their first year, you'll see that almost everyone on that list played some midfield time in their first year. Instead, we draft half bank flankers.

Drafting half back flankers with midfield potential, or hybrid mid/flankers doesn't seem to be a strategy that has not worked for us, yet here we are having Bo Allan run around in the WAFl when a mid like Sid Draper was sitting there ready to be taken, but we traded down.

I'm perfectly within my right to be annoyed we have another half back flank (that we can't even fit in our team) instead of a genuine mid like Draper because we split that pick for.......drum roll.......Liam Baker a half back flanker, who we have been forced to play in the midfield...

Thanks for playing, OG.

Again, your post has little relevance to the topic at hand an offers nothing of value whatsoever.

The absolute balls on DSP poking ATG like that

Absolutely nailing the multi year bottom out, that's us:

I mean after yet another horrible performance, not a single player was dropped, they were all forced outs, were at the start of a rebuild and still are wasting games on guys that shouldn’t be here next year
