I still see room for him, particularly if Duursma isn’t ready to go at the start of the season. That ability to push up to a wing is a big positive when it comes to bench flexibility. Hopefully Powell can rotate through the midfield and across half back to free up another spot for a half forward/midfielder

F: Curtis, Larkey, RHJ
HF: Zurhaar, Darling, Sheezel
Mid (1st rotation): Xerri, Parker, LDU
Mid (2nd rotation): Xerri, LDU, Wardlaw
Mid (3rd rotation): Xerri, Sheezel, Powell

Bench: Teakle, Simpkin (mid,hf), Ford (wing,hf)
Question is... Does Eddie get selected before FOS for round one?

Personally, I don't think FOS will be ready to go early in the season. From what I've been told we've been managing his loads/building his body up. Taking a more conservative approach due to all the small niggly injuries he had last year.

Probably also being conservative as we can due to depth in the midfield and a glut of players 20-25 that are ready who need games now (for development or to have a career next year). Suspect it would change pretty quickly if we have personnel issues or if he smashes it out of the park over the next 5-6 weeks.

He ought to be doing his damndest to make the selectors want him in the team for round one, as a starting player.
Yep. And in all honesty we as a team will be better off the sooner we stop needing even top 5 picks to be ready come round 1 of their first season.

Had some pretty raw discussions during the offseason with the coaching staff and during his review. Took it all on board and came back in excellent condition.

Investigating the ways to have him stay more involved, while they still think he’ll play forward, they might throw the magnets around and have him trial across half back and on the wing during pre season.

Huge tick to get that tough feedback and make the improvements he has in his conditioning.

Yep. Showed that he is up for the fight.

Could’ve packed his bags and gone elsewhere, but he loves the club and is committed to trying to get the best out of himself here.

His best work is closer to goal but agree he does offer massive positives pushing up to the wing including a solid marking option from kick ins, which I don't really see any of our other half forwards or current wings being able to do at the same level and consistency.

Would love to see him down back. With his marking and kicking ability he has all of the attributes to be an elite intercepting/rebounding defender.

Can't see him inhabiting that section of the ground, to be honest. Just feels wrong, like when we trialled Tarryn back there
I see similar characteristics to Sicily, similar height, both are beautiful kicks and play tall.

Clarko knows a heap more than me so there must be a reason why he hasn't been tried back, but I'd love to see him at least tried down there for a little block of games.

We do play Lmac back there you know

Only thing holding him back is his decision making- needs to be quicker in that aspect
Come on, mate. LMac was ahead of some pretty handy names for contested loss % last year. And he never shirks a contest. If we're gonna criticise him, surely find something other than one of the few things he's undeniably decent at
