No you dont get to a GF five years ago if that is true especially after tippetgate

A grand final where we got smashed in the midfield, lost badly, and then disintegrated in the following 2 years, because all of the heavy lifting was being done by forwards and defenders from the previous decade who went over the late 20s/early 30s cliff together.

I'd be surprised if we don't announce some contract extensions in the next week. Here is the list from the other thread. Who do you think gets done? Fogarty? Butts?

Contracted until end of 2023
Rory Sloane
Chayce Jones
Harry Schoenberg
Andrew McPherson
Josh Worrell
Shane McAdam
Jordan Butts (R)
Fischer McAsey
Tom Doedee
Darcy Fogarty
Lachlan Murphy
Nick Murray (R)
Kieran Strachan (R)
Matthew Crouch
Paul Seedsman
Jackson Hately
Zac Talyor
Luke Nankervis
Taylor Walker

his point was about list management not game day tactics

Worse things than having Crouch running around in the SANFL as depth for a season. If we didn't need the list spot it would be a non-issue.

I've been critical of Crouch when warranted but some of the commentary on here has been pretty disrespectful at times. Has been a good player for us over the journey, stuck around and put in as a Vic draftee which isn't always the case.

We didn't have the list to play the necessary gameday tactics. We played rebound slingshot because our midfield was dogshit but we had decent intercepting defenders and a forward line that excelled at running towards goal, and that's a regular season game style that doesn't hold up.

Our list has been mismanaged since 2011, and the club is guilty of chasing sunk cost over and over and over again, lacking the objectivity and ruthlessness to correctly internally rate and when necessary move on players, and overvaluing the wrong attributes in players.

Even now they've admitted they can't make any more changes to the list because of a lack of spots, somehow contriving to give contracts to the bottom half dozen players on a terrible bottom 4 list that are so extensive at 2 and 3 and 4 years that we can't get rid of them, and have to hold them.

2022 and it's still ongoing, with no change in sight.

Unbelievable McHenry isn’t on that list.

Re Dunkley, I don’t understand why Brisbane isn’t copping more heat for trading away 15 - can understand the Dogs being ropable.

With Dunkley’s partner living in Adelaide we should be pitching a PSD option; pay him big bucks and we can trade him after a year if the Thunderbirds don’t give Dwan’s another contract beyond next season.

That is the only circumstance under which paying 5 for an uncontracted rankine is a great outcome

Silvers having a drink on King William Rd. Our last glorious leader lived around Hyde Park too.

Couldn’t quite here what he was saying …

Something something Rankine, Fog both awesome, JHF back on, Thebarton residents can suck a fat one.

That was about the gist of it.
Reckon John Doe should tweet that

That should be our pitch to him right now..

”mate.. if you end up in the PSD we will take you.. you can live here with ya missus and if you want out at the end of next year we’ll agree to trade you..

if your missus stays at the Tbirds you can keep playing for us

totally up to you”..

A bloody good player for us in his day and a loyal one at that

Hope it works out for him and he finds his form at another club , he deserves it

Apparently in our entire history we've only recruited 5 players that had previously played in a Premiership.

Is this something we may need to look at in the future?
