Loved Richards game, thought Dunks and McNeil always looked dangerous forward, which was a little surprising.

Naughton had a bit of a mare, but still directly setup 3-4 goals. Essendon defender (Ridley?) did a really good job down there.

Tim Watson summed it up best, i.e. we just got so much ball to dangerous areas and the Bombers simply don’t have the talent to do that.

O’Brien looked good, thought Gards was caught out of position too much vs 2m Peter. His disposal hurts too, but has been good prior to today.

How many times did we spoil our own forwards mark? I counted 5 to half time and there was at least a few others 2nd half. Frustrating.

McComb ain’t terrible, gets a lot of it in good areas and is tough. Geez his disposal though….

Pressure was there all game, key is to get some consistency now. Port certainly no gimmes, but confident we’re the better team.

The media is laughable particularly when it comes to Essendon. They seem to win trade week most years, yet they do absolutely nothing when the season starts. I mean their biggest trade in Shiel can't even get a game in their starting lineup and the one trade they didn't want to pay up for in Dunkley just destroyed them today. Hilarious stuff

Daniel's slowly finding better form closer to his AA year. Maybe just because he desperately wants to prove he deserves/gets that contract that half the people on this board reckon we've offered and the other half reckon we haven't lol
I thought he was very good today.

Honestly we played very, very well. Clinical performance. Good to see.

Dunks was immense. Easily BOG for me. I was very impressed from the games of some of our lesser players. Thought McNeill and Wallis were great. McComb much better this week and will keep his spot.

Happy days.

I thought that was clearly Richards best game, he's had big issues being tentative with or without the ball but today he was committed in the air both marking and spoiling and then took the game on and used his speed instead of waiting for something to happen.

Looks to have a ton more confidence this season, backing himself and other players are seeking him out a lot more. It’s great he is being allowed to make that halfback position his own - cross fingers that continues.

Can't believe how bad we were and still comfortably a 6-7 goal better team to Essendon. Not one I'm rushing to watch a replay of, happy to get the 4pts and move on.

I hate to bag new players but McComb was woeful today with his disposals, they were some of the worst howlers I've ever seen. 2 goals was handy but he'll want to turn everything else about his game around quick smart.

I'd give McComb a pass mark. Yes, 5 or 6 of his disposals were outright comical in how poor they were, but he had good moments (not just the 2 goals).
Get's to the right spot a lot of the time, and his disposal and decision making under pressure may improve with experience. He'll need to keep playing well though because he'll be easy to drop if has another poor one like last week.

Essendon are SHIT! Last year I predicted/announced they would not make finals this year. Their list is shit and they were so overhyped it was nauseating!!! They will need to strap in for quite some more time before they get a finals win and I’m loving it..

I think Bailey Williams‘ two blues in the first quarter of the GF has put the zap on his brain. His confidence looks shot.

Thinking the same, today I noticed when he was standing the mark on a set shot he didn't have his arms up in the air and Duryea had to come over and tell him to put them up.

It’s a real shame how far backwards he has gone. I am / was a fan, but trading him is an option to be put on the table.

Trading him at his lowest possible value would be a terrible idea. Send him back to the twos and hope he regains some confidence or try a role change. Only delist or trade as a last resort if we don't think he's worth a list spot anymore. What's worth more out of Bailey Williams or some random kid picked in the 70s? Because that's the draft capital we could expect to receive for him right now.

Richards been good most of the year and played well again today. Bombers were shocking and looking like a bottom 3 team.

Mccomb got possessions against a team that did not apply pressure and are playing terrible. His turnovers and poor disposals are emabarrasing and costs us multiple goals. This is where I don’t understand Bevo. Like VDM why play players who turn the ball over and costs us goals. Bevo likes these guys and it will continue to cost us. I thought McComb and Mcneil were both poor Even though they kicked 5.

i see potential in our backline. O’Brien looks good in the air and even though Gardner was beaten by Wright he was competitive and if he works in tanden with Keath and O’Brien I think our backline can work. Shift Keath to the second tall and Gardner plays on the no 1 fwd.

The team is talented enough to make top 4. Just play the right players and Fix our fwd entries which I do not think Bevo can do.

He’s probably worth a little more than Lewis Young or Pat Lipinksi given he is playing in the best 22. They weren’t best 22.

Gardner's been very good this year and actually only 2 of Wright's goals were on him as well, the other two were on Martin and O'Brien respectively.

He wouldn't be playing if half our list wasn't injured. Is Robbie McComb also worth more than Lipinski and Young?

Bailey Williams still has a year to run on his contract after this year. Young and Lipinski were both out of contract making them worth less.

And McComb is a 26 year old debutant so not worth much at all.

What is it with Essendon? I mean, I'm not complaining, but I can't think off the top of my head of any other team who consistently lets us play the game on our own terms. We were given a ridiculous amount of space and time today. Every other team seems to have a plan to negate us, with manic pressure on the ball carrier being front and centre of that plan. Not the Bombers. It's like a shoot out, and may the best team win...every single time. I'd love it if other teams were willing to chance their arm against us in this way! We did play quite well, but I do think that, tactically, Essendon did us a favour as per usual.

Not sure why everyone's so down on McComb. According to this he had a career best game.
Good times!

Glad to see the Ed Richards love on here. He played a fantastic game today. Having a pretty, pretty, pretty good season so far.
