It’s actually not that soft, they need a minimum of 8 wins, 6 games against bottom 8 sides but Gold Coast in Melbourne is probably their next easiest game. They’d need to knock off a few top 8 sides like Port in Adelaide and Marvel, Essendon and Geelong if they lose. They’ve also got the Giants...

Unlike Geelong, Carlton are actually going to have to beat some top 8 sides to play finals. Only got 6 easy games left against the bottom half.

Carlton are not a top 8 side, like Geelong their ladder position is due to a soft early draw. Now they’re playing other top teams they’re in free fall and will be out of the 8 by Saturday.

As I said 3 weeks ago, won’t beat a single top 8 side this season, they’re just not good enough. By tomorrow night, every team they’ve beaten will be bottom half of the ladder and every team who has beaten them in will be in the 8. I do hope they make top 4 on their soft draw and we get them...

Combined with their recent performances against other top 8 sides it’s a trend, not a one off due to heat.

Simple fact is they’re not any good. They were undefeated from beating the bottom 6 to start the season and now they have to play some top 8 sides they’re being shown up. Fortunately for them they’ll make finals solely from beating the bottom 6 teams twice.
