Can't see the Cats getting anywhere near the Lions in this one, Brisbane by 47 points.

Have to say I disagree. Brisbane by 10 goals.

Gonna be a great game i reckon. Lions come off a shaky start against West Coast cant let that happen against a fired up Geelong side having lost to saints previous week. Seems as if Lions always play Geelong in the rain at the Gabba so conditions will sway in favour for the cats. However seems as if Kai and Charlie will be fit for selection so should be a great saturday night game. Lions by 10.

Can’t be bothered going back and checking the past results but I feel like the Cats tend to do ok against the Lions at the Gabba.

I’m not reading anything into the game last week, the Cats lose to the Saints every year. Reckon they’ll be primed to bounce back and that should see this one go down to the wire.

I can never get excited about playing Geelong at the gabba (or anywhere). Feels like they've had the wood on us for the best part of 20+ years.

Geelong have the best record at the Gabba of any away team - who can forget the Lions bottling the 2020 prelim in what was their only chance that will ever be to play a GF in Brisbane after finishing equal top?

Well that's mostly because we were rubbish while they were winning flags. Went both ways. From '97 to '03 the Lions won 10 in a row. The most recent meeting though is the one that matters in terms of this game. Lions are the much better team and should win but who knows.

Lions won by 10 points in a Prelim without Cats having our starting ruckman and we’ve added Bailey Smith who was best on in our over 70 point win. Baz not playing last week was a pivotal change from Round 1 to Round 2.
If Baz plays this opens it up way more to a ripper of a contest. Stewart plays or not it makes a massive difference, went down early last week and it completely changed the game.

The gap you are talking about isn’t as large as you think it is.
Lions have a better midfield but I’d take Cats forward line any day of the week.
Lions probably get the edge on backline, Cats have far superior role players and coaching to get the most out of those blokes, Lions more dependant on Star talent to drag through wins.

Cats in the wet absolutely massacred Brisbane at the Gabba, Brisbane in the dry barely rolled over the line….Cats were in front with 2 mins to go and down a star midfielder.

This weekend especially.

Geelong don't have enough depth to cover Smith, Stewart, Mannagh and Kolo. That's probably 4 of our top 10-12 players, including 2 of our top 5.

Conway also would have been a far better match up for Big Oh than SDK, who will get monstered the same way he did against Marshall.

The Cats are only winning this one if Brisbane are asleep at the wheel.

Which is very possible based on first 2 Rounds of the season. Plenty of upsets and shock results.

I think they got their wake up call last week. I expect them at their best, although some wet weather could be a wildcard.

I thin a lot of it hinges on Ins/Outs for both sides.

Cal Ah Chee is usually a wildcard vs the Cats and he had a big head knock against Eagles. He might not pull up if they want to be cautious.

Starcevich is usually a great lock down player on Stengle...if he doesn't play it allows Cats smalls to run rampant.

Charlie didn't play and he's always a threat to be best small forward in the comp, Baz didn't play coming off a BOG performance.
Tom Stewart is close to the best halfback in the game, does he get up?
Lohmann is still iffy to play, he's a threat if he does.
