Someone should have been held accountable for that 2017 contract. Why was it given in the first place? Why was it so long?

.....
Wasn't the 2017 extension negotiated in Hinkley's kitchen between Donna and an emasculated Koch?

Deal on the eve of 2020 COVID finals with a year to run was maximum stupidity too. There was no need.

I disagree to a point.

They had just finished top of the ladder, lost by a kick in a prelim to the eventual premiers in a game that could have gone either way. So I don't look at that extension as one that was even close to being in the realm of the 2017 or 2023 ones, which were given out not based on performance.

The problem was not the extension imo, but rather the length of said extension. The Board only wanted the extension to be until the end of 2022. I believe it was Richo who pushed for a 2 year extension, and, as a show of good faith for the newly appointed CEO.

Can't wait for the embarrassment of the week leading up to gather round with this potatoes face being everywhere trying to build up the rematch with Sicily.
Then cut to after the game and he's wandering around with a vacant grin on his face trying to make small talk to Mitchell after we've lost by 50+

Don't think he'll be approaching Sam Mitchell somehow.

The 2017 extension was the killer. In my eyes every extension after that time was unwarranted.

I’m certain Hinkley would’ve left at the end of that year, if Koch hadn’t stuffed both feet in his mouth over the Suns and China, and thus couldn’t stomach being one-upped by Tony Cochrane twice in one year.

He's just been brainwashed by the Hinkley propaganda. Hinkley seems to have super close relationships with Whateley, Caroline, Kane, etc. Im convinced he leaks info to them and meets with them to form a relationship so that he can manipulate the attention he cops.
How's the sweet irony with quotes from our coaches telling the public that they tell players to not look at socials as it could negatively impact their performance/mindset and then you have Ken Hinkley's sensitive ass calling any media person as soon as he gets the one off criticism.

Boaks a loser.
He looks like he's proposing to the man
Suck me off Daddy

Might be "frustrating" Boaky - try being a Port fan for the last 13 years. And if it's so frustrating for 'the boys' because they 'absolutely love him', maybe they can all pull their fingers out.

Parting ways with Hinkley is the first step of undoing everything we dislike about our club if I can call it that any more

The whole place needs to be reset, they have to repair the relationship between the club and supporters and the mindset of making finals is a pass mark. We have a long long way to go to be the club we would like it to be.

Josh Carr might be the beginning but I fear the mountain will be to big, even for Carr. Hinkley is one of 4 problems, that leaves Richardson, Davies and Koch, much has to change. The biggest thing will be for Carr to reverse the damage done to the players.

I hope I am reading Carr correctly and he can see what we do, I just don't understand why we are wasting this season by keeping Ken.

The more I observe this situation from a distance and read these comments, the more I am reminded of the 2022 State Election. Where constant agitation and scare mongering resulted in the downfall of a Government who had no hope of correcting the absolute catastrophe caused by the last administration, mainly due to the large number of cancer cells from the previous regime lingering around to stymie their attempts. I only hope, for the sake of you good people and your enjoyment of the game, and indeed the future of the PAFC, that when Carr ascends to the top job, he does a much better job than the train wreck Malignant Malinauskas and his bunch of socialist criminals are forcing upon South Australia. However, therein I fear, lies the answer. Just as Malinauskas is a cancer cell left over from the previous diabolical regime, so too is Carr. A complete cleanout of all of those cancer cells is the only way out of the mess.
