Perhaps the most prolific composer of hit songs in the modern era has died. Burt Bacharach, in partnership with lyricist Hal David, was responsible for some of the best known songs of the 60s and 70s. He won 3 Academy Awards including 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' from the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, 6 Grammy Awards and 2 Golden Globes. Bacharach is closely associated with singer Dionne Warwick in songs such as 'Do you Know the Way to San Jose' and 'The Look Of Love'. Burt Bacharach got his start as the accompanist for Marlene Dietrich and from there branched into composing.
