Well, this is very sad for football and both SWL clubs will suffer as the season goes on, But this reflects on AFL TAS hurrying through the new competition, there only priority was to have 21 players running out each week in the seniors , no thought was done to what impact all clubs would have with underage football. Two days ago we have a opening of the new comp, then the new day his news. Who's accountable, because this could start to snowball.

Absolutley spot on. Devonport and the bombers ought to hang their heads in shame. Where are they going to get their next lot of recruits from? What a heap of bullshit about giving the players that have signed to their feeder clubs. This was always going to be a problem and it was brought up at the meetings when clubs discussed joining the SW league. What do Ltn or Burnie do that have 25 plus signed players for their u/age? All they wanted was a senior comp up and running and the rest well they couldn't give a stuff about. I hope the AFL have a heap of money in reserve to pump into football in Tassy because thats the only way clubs will stay involved. CASH HANDOUTS. Good to see the Bombers recruit 3 players from Darwin. Maybe they would of being better off looking after their own back yard. Shame on Devonport and the Bombers. You fooled and told mistruths to your members last year and i hope they (the members) hold all you accountable for the begining of your clubs demise.

Very disappointing.
Perhaps a better model would have been to have a statewide hybrid under-age/reserves.
Basically a reserves where at least 12 chosen must be under the age limit (whether 18,19 or 20 really doesn't matter).

Sort of like the age rules in Olympic soccer; partly open age, but with a certain number per team subject to age restrictions.
