neafl venue discussion.

Which ground do/did most like watching the NEAFL at?

Personally I liked heading to Esplen Oval to watch the siders, old fashioned proper suburban ground and the area (hawthorne-bulimba) is a bloody nice place to spend the day (even if it is a tad snooty).
Aspley's ground is also a great place to watch the footy imo.

Ainslie Oval ACT for the lovely old style feel and great social club facilities. Best of both worlds. Coming from Victoria, I must say this ground is far superior to some current VFL grounds.

Belconnen's ground isn't bad either and the ACT's AFL venue Manuka Oval is a nice oval to view footy at.

Sorry lauschie but for a ground that cost 3 million over a decade ago it could have been a lot better. The grandstand is not user friendly. It needs to be bigger and elevated so spectators can actually see over the fence that runs around the ground. Also the canteen is tiny and no shelter if your lining up in the rain. Only good thing about Aibslie oval is the playing surface rest of ot is not much chop.

Agreed A Big High. More shelter is required at Ainslie Oval. Maybe down the track Ainslie could consider extending the grandstand elevating the existing structure above the fence line. Coming from a VFL background it still beats a few grounds back in Victoria. What's your fav ground mate??

For viewing in Canberra surely Queanbeyan is one of the best. Large grandstand high grassed banks around for an elevated view. Not to mention the frivolity of the growlers deck. Big electronic scoreboard

Ainslie sure does have the best surface!! grandstands needs a little work and be seated a bit higher! Put their money in to that rather than players...?

In Canberra it has to be Qbn. Great for spectators over on the hill or the grandstand. Brilliant for past players in the growlers shed which creates a great atmosphere.

With the work being down to the change rooms, canteen, umpires rooms it will be an even better facility

Manuka oval has been done up and is a fantastic venue now, can sit in the front row of seats and actually see the ground unlike before. Built in dugouts for players. QBN is good for watching footy, and hopefully with the upgrades nice for the players in the rooms now. Ainslie in dire need of a proper stand to watch from, well done on fixing up their shocking away rooms to something quite acceptable now days. Belconnen, stands are good to watch from, good they finally have their own ground to call home. Not sure about rooms, have never been inside.

Having lived in Darwin a few years... footy at TIO stadium was good... Treager Park is meh... but I believe they have done it up a lot since I was last there. Havent been to any Qld/NSW grounds.
