St Kilda finalised its draft selections and enhanced its midfield depth with the recruitment of Norwood’s Hannah Priest.

Originally from Bendigo, the 27-year-old ball-magnet will look to bring her impressive skillset to St Kilda’s young line-up.

The former elite netballer is highly competitive, athletic and is armed with an impressive ability to rack up the footy, averaging 14 touches per game for the Redlegs.

Able to play as both an inside and outside midfielder, Priest will be intent on jumping out of the blocks when Season 2020 rolls around.

Another four inaugural Saints have confirmed they will be at RSEA Park for at least another two seasons.

Tilly Lucas-Rodd, Hannah Priest, Rosie Dillon and Isabella Shannon take St Kilda’s re-signed players tally to 10, joining Georgia Patrikios, Caitlin Greiser and several other youngsters in putting pen to paper.

Priest and Lucas-Rodd became mainstays of the Saints’ defensive half, and were as important as any Saints as the club snared wins against Melbourne and Richmond before the season was cut short.

Lucas-Rodd so often went to the opposition’s best forward and did the job while Priest was one of the finds of the season, with the South Australian providing plenty of dash off half-back.

Hannah Priest has been appointed as the sole captain of St Kilda’s AFLW side for Season 2022.

The 29-year-old – who served as one of four co-captains last season – will be flanked by co-vice-captains Rhiannon Watt and Kate Shierlaw, and extended leadership group members Bianca Jakobsson and Tilly Lucas-Rodd.

Rosie Dillon, Tarni White and Nicola Xenos will also form an Emerging Leaders group, a new addition to the Saints’ AFLW program.

Skipper Hannah Priest, star forward Jesse Wardlaw and vice-captain Bianca Jakobsson will call St Kilda home for at least another three seasons, forming part of a fresh wave of re-signed Saints.

The trio will be accompanied by the experienced Nicola Stevens and emerging youngsters Alice Burke and Ella Friend in recommitting to the club until at least the end of 2026, with all set to play major roles in the Saints’ ascent towards finals football.
