I've been meaning to post this thread for ages! I'm mostly interested in the context of the moving North magnetic pole and the possibility of a magnetic field reversal in the near future ("near" meaning on a geological timescale - next few thousand years). Here's a quick primer:

I first head about this as a kid from a 'choose your own adventure' book.
Interesting it can affect LEO satellites, as they're going up daily. Going to be a massive rejig when the numbers swell from 10,000 to 25,000 and the [potential for collisions/space junk increases.

No. The difference between the two hemispheres is from the Earth's west to east rotation, which won't change.
