So, this confirms what we already know.
Collingwood are miles in front, with Hawks/Dons/Blues/Tigers very strong, Saints falling and Dees/Dogs/North struggling.

I don't think you could really count Blues as very strong, they're only at 31K, 11K behind next best (of Vic clubs) Essendon and only 7K in front of Melbourne & North. Granted they'll probably have a surge when the season draws closer but to say they are "very strong" at the moment is misleading.

EDIT: Melbourne & North are still struggling and need to get up to around the 40K by the end of the year, Saints and Dogs are a big worry.

North currently on 25,347. On track for around 39,000 if we maintain the same uptake numbers from here on as we did in 2013. I think that would be considered ok for a club who 6 years ago was all but gone and who have played one final in 5 years.

Would be nice if the swans would give us an update on figures at some stage.

Hey, it's not my comment. Read the North Melbourne annual report, it says the same thing.
And if you read the AFL Club finding and Equalisation Strategy 2011-2016 you would know why that is.

I didn't pass comment on that in the first place.
Your initial comment was in reply to another poster who was impressed with North's ability to make an operating profit despite not making any income from pokies. Why is it impressive that North make a profit without pokies considering they also get an extra $3M a year from the AFL? Well, because North play at shit times on Fox and under a shit stadium deal negotiated by the AFL, a stadium that all clubs will own when the deal expires.

So, with that information taken into consideration the $3 million extra can be seen as payment to the club from the AFL for being forced to take it up the arse so that they can rake in as much coin as possible via TV rights whilst also paying off a billion dollar asset. Despite the constraints that the scheduling and stadium deal put on our club and our stance on no pokies coin we still make a profit.

Yes North are small, yes North need to develop non-football related streams of income, but the club is growing positively on and off field. North will likely nudge 40,000 members this season, will increase their FD spend to around $18 million, continue to pay down their debt and hopefully still make a profit. North will also benefit from better FTA scheduling this year so hopefully this will assist the club in removing some of the requirement for extra distributions from the AFL by allowing the club to attract further sponsorship $$ and members. The requirement for provision of extra funding though will not be fully removed until the AFL own Etihad and clubs based there who had their deal negotiated by the AFL are allowed to actually benefit from playing there at a rate comparable to other stadia in the country.
