Tim Gossage reported this morning that Andrew Gaff wants to go home at the conclusion of his contract ( End 2012). Hope this is untrue and that the kid stays around otherwise it is a waste of pick 3 in the draft. If it is true then club needs to trade him this year while we stillc an. we dont want a JUdd fiasco where he nominates his club etc. I know that worked out for us but i think back to Freo and Jeff white where he went into the end of season draft and melbourne got him for nothing. This kid is going to be a dead set gun in the future. Not happy Jan

Re: Gaff to go home

Get rid of him now if true.

What a ****ing stupid idea, GWS or Port will be bottom next year so we don't have to worry about PSD.

End of his contract is a year away, I'm sure a lot of kids wanted to go at this point and have changed their minds.

Besides Shue will be doing his best to get him to stay.

Re: Gaff to go home

Won't be happy if he goes. Wish we could have gotten Swallow as he will be a brownlow medalist in 5 years time ;) love Gaff but if he is not able to cope with the travel and sacrifices you make to be an afl footballer than I personally don't even want to him our list but he is yet to say it's true so still have massive Gaff love:heart:

Disagree completely

If it does pan out that way - we'll be in a strangely fortunate position to have trade value in a very strong draft.

Also with GWS, GC & Port the likely cnadidates for the bottom 3 - there's no way a melbourne club can bend us over a barrell to get him.

If he does go - 2012 provides the best year to do so

However - here's hoping a winning team provides ample motivation to stay.

Someone ask him on twitter. Bet he has NFI about what Gaff wants to do.
The Herald Sun etc. usually loves these kind of stories (A highly rated Victorian with the slightest chance of going home). Anyone seen one yet? Nope

Doesn't seem like it.. I kind of remember after one of his 30+ possy games he said that Embers and others had been a great influence and that he hopes to play with them "for years to come" or something.

Didn't this rumour start earlier in the season after Gaff had been used as a sub and then missed some games through a hamstring injury? Posters started freaking out and Brian Taylor provided some fuel to the fire by reporting on Gaff's manager meeting with some friend of his who is on the Bombers staff which gave it the respectability some posters needed. Other than this board and two media men who aren't exactly known for breaking big stories has there been anything about this, anywhere?

Other than Judd I can't think of a player the Eagles have lost who they wanted to keep/saw as a vital part of the team. He is contracted till the end of next year and if this year has taught us anything a year is a long time in football.

Gossage reckoned his source was he had talked to a couple of eastern states player managers who had talked to gaffs manager, or something like that.

I highly doubt if gaff would be asking his manager to look for interested clubs on the eve of the finals.

Gossage should stuck to what he does best, Wafl footy

Who cares. The kids overrated. He's obviously a fantastic pick up but he's not the be all and end all of the future of the club. I love Gaffy, but from what I've seen I can't see him developing into this Football God people seem to expect.

Agree with this to an extent. I think Gaff is and will be an excellent player however it's not as though he's Shuey, Kennedy, LeCras or Naitanui etc. If he wants to go, it's a bit of a sucker punch to the gonads but it'd be no where near as crippling as losing Judd.

Having said that, I think and hope he will stay. :thumbsu:
