Let's be frank, that's a super effort by ALL clubs of the AFL. Almost 900,000 members! We're lucky to have such a well supported sport

Does the wiggles 45k include the 5k or what ever number it is they have on the waiting list?

The other thread was gay, too many people trying to shoot down the Hawks membership number and pump up their own.

You mean the Richmond supporters vs Hawthorn supporters in a dick measuring contest?

Here is hoping the Blues make it to 42,000 :thumbsu:

I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but it's worth mentioning again, how excellent the AFL's expansion really is. I mean, sending the two new teams to the two states with the already lowest membership counts? How do they do it!

Yeah you have to say that based on those numbers the expansion is going to be a huge success ;)

It is a great effort and a even better game.

and well done to the Hawkes 50k i dont care if 5k are sold on the moon to people who never go to a game it's still great for the club.

It's 50 000 more than what there would otherwise be if there was no expansion. Queensland and NSW are the two places where there is greatest potential for footy to grow in the future.

i wonder how many richmond members there would be if they didnt get ben cousins last year:D

Membership figures are one thing but it's how much $ you generate from each member, 45,000 maybe worth more $ than 52,000.

That's right. Some clubs like Collingwood offer a three-game membership. It's a ticketed membership so it counts but they don't make much money from it. It's simply to drum up numbers. Otherwise they would have to face the reality that their full H&A memberships put them fourth on the membership tally.

But they must well and truly make up for it by selling the Eddie McGuire Club tickets for 800 bucks a pop. Whilst Mickey Mouse memberships shouldn't count for much, I don't think a club should take pride in the fact that rank and file members have ZERO GF entitlements, and to be guaranteed a ticket to the big dance need to spend about $500.

At Hawthorn, the top of the line package comes in at a modest $450, $320 will guarantee you a GF ticket. That's why we're called the family club. :)
