Some interesting stats from last night

Sam Jacobs had 20 hitouts, Simmonds only had 14 (Kreuzer had 21).

Little Jeff Garlett scored 58 while only getting 10 touches (1 goal). Good signs.

Scotland had 29 touches for his score of 89, while Robinson only had 13 disposals yet scored 90 (6 tackles & 3 goals).

Raines had 23 disposals yet only managed 68. Not good.

Richo is a freak.

Simmonds was atrocious last night, to the point where he was getting bronx cheers from the crowd. If it weren't for the fact that Richmond really can't cover his loss, I'd be worried he would lose his spot after a performance like that.

I must say im glad i didnt pick Simmonds even though he scored well, he looked disastrious and slow. Kruezer made him look like a turtle. He dropped about 20 DT points. I think he will struggle this season, his hitouts will be low and his disposals will decrease aswell. I didnt pick him because of the speed of the game and the way the modern game is heading. I thought when picking rucks you need versatile players who can run.

Ssssshhhh dont tell me that!

But really, he did look pretty out of sorts. But the fact he managed to still pull 97 despite playing horribly has to mean something! I think he may of had pretty low TOG too - wallace frustrated? Being eased in? I dont know if it was just me, but i hardly saw him in the third quarter.

I spotted him quite a few times. Drifted back into D50 at least once in the second half.

Simmonds dropped a heap of marks, missed a sitter of a goal and only got 10 hitouts.

YET he scored 97, to me those are all good signs for the year ahead. If players can score that many points on their bad nights, then watch out.

Unfortunately he won't have the luxury of playing on Kreuzer and Jacobs every week though. Next week it's Ottens/Blake and then Hudson/Minson the week after. Should be interesting.

I went with Macintosh and Hille

It was clearly a strategy to put Simmo infront of Fevola and i think it wont happen much again unless you get a Pavlich. This is why his numbers were so high, he sat in front of fev and picked up some easy marks.

Your captain will be highlighted with a 'C' on your team page. Here's an example (Dane Swan selected captain, Daniel Cross vice-captain, and three emergencies):

If none of your players are highlighted, then you didn't pick a captain.

i would have chosen one had i been able to log in on thursday

does the system automatically choose a captain for you if you don't nominate one? or you just miss out on the points?

If you have no captain, you'll get double your vice-captain's score. If you don't have a vice-captain, you get squat.

geee dude, I couldnt think of anything worse. Studying and researching your team to not picking a Captain. It won't effect your league, but everyone like to get off to a nice ranking.

i gave myself the whole of thursday afternoon to log on & make some changes and nominate a captain etc etc.

(i'd half chosen the team & just chucked in a few cheapies to make up the numbers)

couldn't get on.

was going to make ablett or pavlich captain.

and this dreamteam one won't let you update your team mid-round so i can't even nominate someone now.

total balls. thinking of retiring & waiting til next year.

How many points do I need to win this thing then?

I think the average was over 2400 last year, does anyone have any more accurate stats?

LOL retiring. Man its been 2 games, It's not like you were going to win the car. You can easily win ur league.

not sure man. I know the winner 2008 was averaging 2300 by the end of the year.

I want to know what score will get you in the top 1000?

Seems like a colossal score. I averaged about 1950, if that, last season

I want a top 500 finish after round 1 but i doubt it with how everyone is going and with popular players such as Ottens, SJ and Tuck firing.

Last year Bradfisherman (convicts) - the winner of DT08 avg 2051 throughout the year, but only scored 1700 in round 1 than 2051 in round 2.

I really wouldn't worry too much about early rankings.

They're obviously the rounds most affected by one round wonders. If you stick to a plan then you'll have no problem in climbing up the rankings.

Yeah, Convict's overall average was around 2050-2060 (was just over 45, 000 points IIRC).
