I was just reading this article about Lance Whitnall: http://foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,22748355-23211,00.html
Basically, Whitnalls doctor is discussing the fact that Whitnall made the right decision to retire given his bone on bone knee injury.
The presence of bone on bone basically meant that Whitnall would not be able to make any meaningful contribution to Carlton in the future. Whitnall has shown some integrity and decided to pull the pin.
This raises the question: why is JLo floating around FFC like a cancer? The guy has an identical knee injury to Whitnall, yet he insists on remaining at FFC collecting a fat pay check each week even though he has little or no prospect of ever playing for the club again - at best we will get a couple of games each season out of JLo but nothing more.
JLo should keep what small amount of dignity he has left and retire from AFL. He should be embarrased to collect a pay check each week when it is well known around the club that he is more or less in retirement already.
He has little or no chance of ever making a meaningful on field contribution to the club so he should stand aside. Jlo would keep his dignity, and the club would save on his wage and free up money in the salary cap. It is a win win scenario for both parties.
