50 Years After the turn of the millennium.

Henry Basketville’s arms in the air when the final siren rang, signified exactly what the 2050 Premiership meant to him. It was his fourth premiership, and at the age of 28 is hoping for a couple more. It was also a tribute to a team mate who was left out of the side despite being a previous legend of the game, Emmanuel Putter who played his final game in Round 8.

Collingwood have won nine premierships and two wooden spoons since Peter Williams took over in 2004. Legends such as Travis Cloke, Joseph Thornberry, Travis Horsey, Kobe Ryans, Andy Pike, Jeremy Holbrook and now to many, Emmanuel Putter. While Basketville has a couple of seasons left in him, Putter announced his retirement despite Williams asking him to continue on. After 308 games, at the age of 35, a legend was gone from the game.

Christopher Ingold, an outstanding tall back, played 298 games and at the age of 34 retired after 16 Seasons. A tribute was held to them on Grand Final day. Ivan Wilkins, a man who always missed out on selection because of the improving tall backs, played 79 games over 14 Seasons with the club which included one premiership.

Now the club needed to go through a major cleanout as the Salary Cap monster struck them. They would go into the 2051 Season with a whole bunch of fresh kids out of high school. Henry Basketville was the man to lead these boys and turn them into men on the field. And so another era began…

NAB Cup News: Crows just get home over Magpies

It was their six goal to three third quarter which in fact won them the match.

Devon Flood (Adelaide) was awarded the Michael Tuck Medal.

Collingwood storm to six goal win over Bulldogs

In an inaccurate display from both sides, Collingwood managed to maintain their fast running game, winning by 36 points against the Bulldogs, showing that despite their inexperience, they had a lot of confidence and weren't afraid to stand up to stronger opponents.

Gregory Connell and Cameron Finch kicked 11 goals between them in an awesome display of skills by a young, but talented outfit to outrun the Swans by 25 points at the SCG last night. Erick Gibbon picked up 25 Possessions, but Coach Williams declared it a team effort that saw Collingwood get the four points. The win was soured by a one week suspension to to Collingwood star midfielder Hunter Drewes for tripping. Collingwood's fourth win in a row, gave it outright first.

Fast starting Hawks end Pies winning streak

In the shock of the round, the fast starting Hawthorn side have beaten a tired Collingwood outfit by 25 points. Collingwood only kicked two first half goals compared to the Hawks' seven. It seemed they still had jet lag after their trip to Sydney. Fron there they managed to keep even with them but never seem to take control at all in the match with the Hawks proving to strong.

Sean Mead was good for the losers, picking up 34 Possessions and kicking three goals in a BOG performance. The Pies' now play the 2nd placed Kangaroos in a top-of-the-table battle.

Collingwood a discrace as they tumble to 3rd

Collingwood coach Peter Williams labelled his team's 2nd half effort "a weak discrace of Collingwood culture" as the side tumbled out of the top two for the first time since Round 2. They were soundly beaten all day, however a seven goal to two onslaught in the second half, including a goal less last quarter had the coach furious. Brisbane were very happy with the win going into a do or die clash with Melbourne next week. For Collingwood, they play 15th placed Richmond, but after today's performance, no game is a certainty for those in the Black and White.

Collingwood make no mistake this week

We saw a different Collingwood outfit run out this week compared to last week after pounding the Tigers in a high scoring display by 59 points. Deltray picked up another 32 Possessions while Gregory Connell kicked six goals as the pair lit up the MCG. Delray however injured his back and will be out for six weeks, in a major blow for the club after he was favourite for the Brownlow.

They now play West Coast over at Subiaco for their second West trip in a month.

Collingwood's second half gets them home

In a change of events compared to those which happened two weeks ago against Brisbane, it was Collingwood that took control of the game to hit the front running and never look back as it defeated West Coast by 19 points at Subiaco today. Connell and Stone kicked 10 goals between them in a dominant display with Collingwood missing star midfielder, John Delray. Collingwood now sit outright 2nd with St. Kilda two points ahead after drawing with Port Adelaide yesterday.

Collingwood stage miraculous comeback

Collingwood has yet again reached the top of the ladder after coming from behind against Geelong at three quarter time to win by eight points at the MCG. After being down by five points at three quarter time, they rallied hard to come away with the four points. Hunter Drewes got another BOG for his 33 Possessions and two goals while Cameron Finch kicked another bag of five goals.

They now travel to Adelaide to play Port Adelaide. Damn this is a tough draw

Collingwood fight back but to no avail

A tough and gallant fight back by Collingwood couldn't quite get them home in a high scoring affair over at AAMI Stadium. Hunter Drewes was again earning his keep with a 29 Possession game. Forty one goals were kicked but Port proved to be too strong running out twelve point winners (140-128), despite a five goal to three last quarter by Collingwood.

The Pies' now play Melbourne at the MCG next Saturday, while Port play the Eagles over at Subiaco.

Collingwood show Melbourne how to play AFL

Today Collingwood looked like it was still training as it won by a lazy 55 points against a hopeless Melbourne side who couldn't play a trick yesterday. Stone kicked four goals as Collingwood kicked 15 in total compared to Melbourne's six in an embarrassing day for the red and blue. Now, for the fourth time for the year, Collingwood play in a top-of-the-table clash against St. Kilda on Friday night at Telstra Dome.

Seven goal first quarter sets up another win for the Black and White

Collingwood showed a "no fear" attitude against tough boys, St. Kilda as they kicked seven goals to one in the first quarter to win by 27 points at Telstra Dome last night. Gregory Connell kicked another five goals while Erick Gibbon picked up 29 Possesssions in the win which is Collingwood's eleventh for the year. They now play the 10th placed Bulldogs next Saturday at the MCG.

Collingwood produce comeback of the year to 'steal' the four points

At three quarter time, the scores stood: Collingwood 8-8-56 trailing the Bulldogs 12-12-84 which to many suggested that the Bulldogs had it won. Collingwood, however, had other ideas as they stormed home, led by Gibbon and Connell, kicking six goals to none as they won by three points: 14-9-93 to the Bulldogs 12-18-90. It was ultimately the Bulldogs inaccuracy which costed them and secured Collingwood a finals berth with it's twelth win.

Meanwhile another two draws were played on the weekend: Sydney and Kangaroos as well as West Coast and Geelong. This brings the tally to six draws for the year proving how close the teams are in comparison.

Collingwood excite fans to claim yet another victim

Collingwood took it's 13th win out of 17 games today with a strong, convincing win over the Crows at Telstra Dome. Delray was back and jsut as good, picking up 28 Possessions and kicking a goal. Stone kicked three goals and was amongst 11 individual goal kickers for the day to produce 17 goals. Although the 43 point win, claimed two victims to injury, Bryson Jewell and Nicolas Flanigan who are both out for the next fortnight.

They now face arch rivals Carlton at the MCG, next Sunday.

Collingwood's 2nd half = class

Collingwood again proved to be a strong finisher, taking Carlton to the Dry Cleaners after wiping the floor with them in a 44 point win at the MCG yesterday. Jewell, not only played carrying an injury to the shock of many, but picked up 28 Possessions along with team mate Erick Gibbon who destroyed the Carlton midfield.

It looks for a second year in a row that Collingwood and Fremantle will occupy the top 2 spots on the AFL Ladder after Round 22.
