Can anyone remember what year the rule was changed to make it that if a ruckman grabbed the ball out of the ruck, it was considered prior opportunity and he had to kick or handball the ball straight away.

I think it was 2004, although I'd have to find old rule books.
You only have to kick or handball straight away if you're actually tackled.
What year was Darcy the Players Choice award winner and Media MVP? It was the year after that
