Suffice to say, I don't think either of us are objective, and it's kind of funny that it's mostly you lot trying to make a claim towards truth when none of you know it any more than I do.
Gibbs is the one that knows the truth, and right up until he ghostwrites his autobiography we won't.
If you cannot see Cornes as a suspect source, then there isn't really much point to continuing this discussion. There is a reason why, of Bryce and McGovern, the former has come out and defended us and our rebuild whenever prompted, and why he's said that he'll always be a blue, where the latter...
...
Because Graham Cornes is a beacon of independent thought and complete non-bias when it comes to all things Adelaide, and Ross had nothing at all to do with getting his son home, and because Nigel Carmody had no stake in Gibbs changing clubs.
Alright.
:rolleyes...
Uh-huh. Super livid, from his holiday with Murphy and a few of the rest of the boys.
This is your board, so I'm not going to argue this too much. Suffice to say, I don't think either of us will convince the other of our respective points of view here.
Literally, der.
I don't know how many times I can say this, but I agree with you that he's a contracted player, and you have the right to dig your heels in should you choose. That is the situation, when read from a purely factual standpoint. However, there is plenty that has been written and...
Here's your issue, though.
At the moment, there are two examples of what goes on should a club hold a player to a contract against their will, Bryce Gibbs and Cameron McCarthy. In Gibb's situation, the trade itself was mismanaged - let's not say by who, hmm? - and it didn't occur, but Bryce...
... except, that wasn't what happened, was it?
Reid came out and proudly told the world that Gibbs wanted not only to come home but specifically to come to Adelaide. He didn't provide reasons, didn't provide any leeway for uncertainty or negotiation, no place for subtlety or nuance. Reid...
You're fun.

This is JJ's and McGovern's career averages, opposite each other. JJ is the better player in almost every area, but his real value is in his...
Don't get me wrong, were I in your position I'd be moving heaven and earth to try and get a hold of two of Rankine, Lukosius or Rozee. It'd be remiss of Reid (outside of any "lol Reid" commentary) to not try to get a hold of a pick inside the top 5. I'd be contemplating trying to find a trade...
Some people are fairly hard about the decisions they make. I don't know anything about McGovern other than what's been written in the press, but he's not going about this softly.
Could just be a series of things that really got his back up, and the injury management was the straw that broke...
Gibbs always said that he was content to stay with us for another year in the event of a trade not being done in time. McGovern has, both through his manager, through his actions and through what he has said personally, kinda gone about this as though he wanted to burn the bridge.
Different...
Could be.
I understand what you think he's worth to you, and as he's contracted the ball is in your court. The only way things don't proceed as though you're holding the whip hand is if there's more to McGovern leaving than there would normally be, and he would rather sit the year out than...
I get that, and I still don't understand why clubs are so infatuated with the top end talent in this draft when you've got a veritable glut of genuine AFL talent all through it. Picks right up until pick 40-45 are going to be good ones.
My position the whole way through has been to try to get...
The post I replied to stated this:
... which was the part I disputed.
I don't especially care about what he's worth to you, but seconds in this draft are rolled gold.
Why wouldn't you use a second rounder at the draft? This is an awesome draft for depth as well as top end talent, and if you think that the seconds we've got currently possess no value (outside being traded down for a first round pick, which if they are worth nothing why on earth would you do...
... you did see that, during this season, we had every single player on that list you've just provided out with injuries at one point or another, yeah?
And Rowe's a season away from retirement, whilst Jones is courting chaosball as frequently as he does something incredible. In reality - given...
... and?
There's no "Get McGovern or bust" situation here. He gets traded, for a price that both parties are willing to accept - whatever that may be - or we don't bother. There's not real issue there.
On that, I'd absolutely agree with you. He's contracted, and because he's contracted you deserve the price you set, with the only mitigating factor being the price others are willing to pay to satisfy you.
For the sake of argument, there's two aspects to every trade: the player and the club. Getting the player onside sufficiently to want them to come to you is only part of the deal, you need to be able to facilitate the trade without cutting off your nose to spite your face. The key here is that...
Don't see how.
If they - Smith, Saad, Mitchell etc - rejected our offer for whatever reason, SOS didn't try to alter the offer to enter back into contention again, he moved onto other options. Could do exactly the same for McGovern, unless you want to create a narrative in which McGovern has...
Because we have greater knowledge of both SOS and Bolton and a greater knowledge of our list than you do. SOS has demonstrated interest, certainly, but no more so than he did Tom Mitchell, Rockliff, Saad or Smith, and the second he was priced out of those players he immediately moved on to other...
