    Moore v Hipwood v Curnow

Dominant is a stretch. Has never averaged 2 goals per game in his career. Curnow going at 3.1 this season. Timing or not, ACL or not, Hipwood isn't in the conversation.

    Cripps or Oliver.

He would have had the luxury of being rested and getting his body right
  3. blues4flag

    Cripps or Oliver.

In this post: Contested marking doesn't matter because Oliver is a midfielder. Also in this post: Oliver is a better player because he's better at fetch. That nonsense aside, you lost all credibility when you stated Oliver is a "far better" clearance player. Cripps is averaging 8.6 clearances...
  4. blues4flag

    Cripps or Oliver.

Cripps' averages are out of whack as he only played 23% vs GC due to injury. Cripps' best was probably v Brisbane in 2019 - 38 touches, 4 goals.
  5. blues4flag

    Cripps or Oliver.

Is Cripps injury prone? He's only missed more than 2 games in a season once in the last 8 years. Cripps and Neale are clearly the best players in the competition at the moment.

Moved Thread Bailey Smith vs Sam Walsh

He started off slow on the wing, but finished the season with coaches votes in 8 of his last 11 games. Developed into an excellent winger.

Moved Thread Bailey Smith vs Sam Walsh

As you'd expect from second year players, it's swung back the other way. Smith nowhere near his early season form, while Walsh is owning the wing and probably been our best player over the past 5 weeks. Two of the best young kids in the comp.

    Moore v Hipwood v Curnow

Over the past 8 games: Curnow, 15.9 disposals, 7 marks (2 contested), 3 tackles, 1.38 goals. Hipwood, 8.5 disposals, 3 marks (1 contested), 0.75 tackles, 1.88 goals. Not sure how you define "miles ahead", but pretty evident Curnow's ahead at this stage. Dermie rates him the best young prospect...

Season Fixture: Play each other once, then 5 rounds of AFLX?

A completely different form of AFL to that played every other week of the season.

    Tom Bell v Reece Conca

It doesn't necessarily make him a good player but it's excellent team play. That bloke mightn't be so willing to commit to a chase next time if he knows there's a good chance someone will run through him.

    Tom Bell v Reece Conca

You do know what a shepard is, right? That last one would've been highlighted and applauded in the match review.
  12. blues4flag

    Tom Bell v Reece Conca

He's got quite a few qualities - great power for one. His problem is that he's got massive weaknesses that he needs to improve upon if he's to cement a starting 22 spot. I'm not sure he can but if he does, could be very handy.

    Mark of the Year

A shame that Bartel crumbled. Would've been one of the great marks if Elliot had more hang times. Still give it to him for the incredible leap while running sidways.

    Best small forward duo

Bloke called Eddie Betts begs to differ. Only 2nd to Breust on goals (just), most goal assists in the league yet again and his tackling numbers are brilliant. Criminally underrated in these discussions.

    Troy Menzel vs Lewis Taylor

Not willing to put a limit on either of these boys. Love the look of Taylor in the little I've seen of him. Well deserved winner. :thumbsu:
  16. blues4flag

    Levi Casboult or Tyrone Vickery

The thing about Casboult is, he always at worst manages to half the contest. He gets hands to the ball in most contests - for whatever reason, he's just taken to dropping them rather than clunking them like he was earlier in the season. He's probably the best bail out kick in the team because of...

    Deledio or Gibbs?

So you're saying this year the two are in a different class?
  18. blues4flag

    Deledio or Gibbs?

What a ridiculously biased assessment. "Pretty player with nice skills"? How about: Gibbs has a massive hurt factor with his clearance work, poise under pressure and performing well in clutch moments?
  19. blues4flag

    Troy Menzel vs Lewis Taylor

Having seen Taylor play a couple of times, I've been really impressed. Would still take Menzel but can see Lewis developing into a very good footballer.
  20. blues4flag

    Deledio or Gibbs?

You really have no idea. For one Gibbs is ahead on goals this season. Maybe your confusing Gibbs the half back flanker with Gibbs the inside midfielder. Disposals and goals are virtually identical, Gibbs well ahead on clearances, tackles and to a lesser extent contested possessions. Gibbs also...

    Murphy vs Deledio

By what metric has Deledio been better? Not statistically, not in media awards nor Brownlow votes. Possibly B&F votes but if not for Judd, Murphy would be a 3 time winner. He finished 2nd (2008), 2nd, 3rd, 1st, 5th (missed 6 games - would have won it comfortably if not for injury). Didn't place...
  22. blues4flag

    Deledio or Gibbs?

What's this nonsense that Gibbs isn't a consistent player? He's been consistent for the majority of his career. The issue was that he was consistently good to very good but seldom played at an elite level. That's changed this year, where he's played exceptional football for the majority of the...

    Troy Menzel vs Lewis Taylor

According to the club it's only bone bruising and nothing structural. Was a test this week so should hopefully be back next.
  24. blues4flag

    Troy Menzel vs Lewis Taylor

Has he? In the 11 games where Menzel's played over 69%, he's averaging 11 disposals and 1.9 goals (from 78% game time). In the 15 games Taylor's played over 69%, he's averaging 16.8 disposals and 0.6 goals (from 86% game time). 6 disposals more a game or 1.3 goals. Indicates the different roles...

    Levi Casboult or Tyrone Vickery

Casboult wins (marginally) more of the footy and takes significantly more marks and contested marks. His recent form suggests that his goal output might follow, too. Though they are the same age, Cas has only played 29 games of footy to Vickery's 85, so there's a gulf of experience between them...
  26. blues4flag

    Levi Casboult or Tyrone Vickery

What a strange phrasing. He's not even averaging double, why the need for the "more than"?
  27. blues4flag

    Jamie Elliott Vs Troy Menzel

Look, I mean no disrespect to Elliot. I'd take Menzel before Garlett too and Garlett kicked 12, 39 and 48 goals in his first 3 seasons of footy (Elliot 6, 30 and 14* in comparison). In fact, Garlett and Elliot's careers have started in very similar manners and some might argue that 48 goals 32...

    Jamie Elliott Vs Troy Menzel

Nope. At the same age as Menzel, Elliot hadn't even debuted.
  29. blues4flag

    Jamie Elliott Vs Troy Menzel

I've seen a fair bit of Elliot. He's playing some very good footy at the moment, however it's just not a fair comparison. Yes, Elliot is far ahead at the minute (as you'd expect, given his age and experience) but Menzel looks to be the complete package. As I mentioned earlier, he's kicked 2...
  30. blues4flag

    Jamie Elliott Vs Troy Menzel

Menzel without a second thought. Jamie's playing better footy at the moment but he's also got 2 years on Menzel. Menz has kicked 2 goals in 6 of the 12 games he's played. He's kicked 2 goals in 6 of the 7 games where he wasn't sub/subbed. Showed his class to slot the match winner on the weekend...
