    The 'Gabba (Brisbane Cricket Ground)

Coates is the one that's put that idea out there. For context, he's a founding member of the Wests Tigers Foundation, which required a minimum six figure donation.

    The 'Gabba (Brisbane Cricket Ground)

Not really. It's like NSW "pausing" the Sydney Metro West. They're just politicking, trying to rework how to best spin it and any changes.

    The 'Gabba (Brisbane Cricket Ground)

Because it's s**t to get to and the club worries that they'll lose their current favoured place in the Brisbane sporting scene by being out of sight and out of mind just after getting the club back on a stable footing. If they upgraded Marvel, would your club's preferred option to play its...

    The 'Gabba (Brisbane Cricket Ground)

That's to upgrade the facilities, seating, etc. Still already had the 20k capacity you thought it needed. Somewhat insanely it also includes paying to REDUCE capacity upon completion, to only 12k, to avoid competing with the Gabba.

    The 'Gabba (Brisbane Cricket Ground)

Also have to bear in mind that probably half the cost is from logistics of the constrained site plus surrounding infrastructure like the road bridges, etc. NFL stadiums are rarely in downtown sites, often green field, and generally isolated so are a blank canvas so it's not exactly like for like.

    The 'Gabba (Brisbane Cricket Ground)

$0. It already has a capacity a bit over 20k.

What is your most hated ground that has been used for AFL?

Come up to Accor. It's basically that but terrible sight lines because nothing was planned with AFL in mind. 🤮

Don't trivialise that Facebook post he read!!!

    The 'Gabba (Brisbane Cricket Ground)

That explains all the blowouts here in NSW. Those damn Libs, kowtowing to leftist woke snowflake SJWs (did I do that right? Miss any of the latest greatest hits of trivialization?)

    Brighton Homes Arena (The Reserve)

    a) does it matter? b) you're assuming AFLW lists will remain the same size indefinitely.

    Brighton Homes Arena (The Reserve)

I'd mentally put it on the Inner City Bypass side of the showgrounds, oops. :D

    Brighton Homes Arena (The Reserve)

The local guys have pointed out that yes, it's short, but it's also constrained where it is. To actually extend it to be a decent AFL ground, you'd need to cantilever it over the motorway or the likes and that's pretty drastic for a stopgap solution. It absolutely would need extra seating.

What is your most hated ground that has been used for AFL?

I've stayed in the hotel overlooking it and at no point did I think it looked like an appetising place to catch anything other than your death of cold.

What is your most hated ground that has been used for AFL?

The Patriots started off in the AFL but back then they played at local unis and Fenway Park.

What is your most hated ground that has been used for AFL?

On telly that makes sense. In person Homebush was a righteous hole to watch AFL in. It felt like you were watching the game in Docklands but the game was being held at the MCG.

What is your most hated ground that has been used for AFL?

The ground at the SCG is much better now. The actual SCG, less so... (unless you're in the members stands).

Allianz Stadium (formerly Sydney Football Stadium)

I feel like I'm having a seizure. At least you'll only get to see them when Sydney FC is having a down year.

What is your most hated ground that has been used for AFL?

The Parramatta metro will have a stop at Olympic Park will be an amazing improvement. It means it's only five minutes from Parramatta and 15 minutes from the city, which will fix my main complaint which is that it's impossible to stop and have a beer anywhere after a game. There were bugger...

What is your most hated ground that has been used for AFL?

Look at Mr "I don't have to attend games at the SCG to see my club play". :( Gabba's not great getting away from either, though that's improving and will continue with the new rail line. Metricon is f-ing awful. Between the shuttle buses, the sun in the afternoon, and the complete lack of...

Sydney Olympic Stadium to be demolished and rebuilt

Government scraps plan in order to save $800 million and return it to the budget bottom line. NRL "will now lobby for up to four 15,000-20,000 seat stadiums worth around $150m-$200m each." Uhhh... that's not what that $800 million was taken back for.

Allianz Stadium (formerly Sydney Football Stadium)

You nailed it, but not the way you think. The SCG trust gets money from the state government. The state government is the Liberal Party, who get money and/or endorsements from connected corporate businessmen. The connected corporate businessmen... are the SCG trust. And then ANZ gets a bit...

    Sydney Showgrounds (Spotless Stadium)

Oooh it gets better - in a thread commenting about the home stadium of the Giants, he's using stats that predate them! :D

    Sydney Showgrounds (Spotless Stadium)

Turns out only 50% of it, and even then it's only if he twists it from supporters to players. :D
  29. dlanod

    Sydney Showgrounds (Spotless Stadium)

That's a very different stat to your claim. They might be facts but that's not the same as "AFL doesn't appeal to these demographics."

    Sydney Showgrounds (Spotless Stadium)

You really need to write to the Daily Telegraph about how everyone's concept of Western Sydney is wrong because it differs from your's.
