Autopsy Rd 8 bad kicking is bad footy = Bloods

Maybe, but from what I've seen this season I think we may struggle to make the 8. Despite the Swans having a few recent losses, I'd still favour them to get there. However, as I strongly support both clubs, both making the finals would be nice. :)

As a Carlton supporter, I'll back the Swans to make the finals before the Blues.

Game Day 2023 Round 08 Collingwood v Bloods Sunday 3:20 pm @ MCG

I'm a 30 year Swans member. This year in fact. My first year of membership was 1994, the year that Lockett ironed out Caven - as I said, I was there that day. You are making an almighty judgment about someone you don't know based on one tongue in cheek post.

Game Day 2023 Round 08 Collingwood v Bloods Sunday 3:20 pm @ MCG

I can understand people booing because of an incident in a game (eg I was at the SCG the day that Lockett ironed out Caven). But otherwise I find booing to be unnecessary and a good indication of the juvenile mentality of those doing it.

    R.I.P. John Payne

I worked for the AFL in a match day capacity at the SCG for a few years. John was the Swans point of contact for me. Lovely fellow, very easy to deal with, I'm sad to read of his passing.

    Autopsy 2022 Grand Final

I'm not sure sheer crowd numbers would be the issue - they came off a 45,000 crowd at the SCG the very game beforehand which would have generated as much noise and atmosphere (or seemingly so) as any Grand Final crowd. I've been to 3 (then) VFL Grand Finals but to this day I will swear that the...

    Autopsy 2022 Grand Final

It's pretty clear that not only does the club need to review what happened on the field in the Grand Final, but also how things were handled in the period leading up to the game. This isn't park footy where the biggest thing you might do leading up to a Grand Final is a player's dinner or a GF...

    Autopsy 2022 Grand Final

It was a tough game to watch on TV, it must have been that much worse for the Swans fans who were at the game. I'm glad you were able to enjoy yourself somewhat later on.

    Autopsy 2022 Grand Final

It's not actually that hard to be a classy winner. I've never been one for rubbing it into supporters of other clubs when they lose (except for some light hearted ribbing of close friends), it's poor form.

    Autopsy 2022 Grand Final

Having lived here for nearly 40 years, the Swans are in my heart as much as the Blues are (who I started following as a boy in Tassie). The result yesterday was shattering. The players just didn't turn up. A few comments I've seen around the traps are worth a mention. "They got blitzed early"...

We need a 1970 Grand Final to happen here, it's followed the script so far........fingers crossed.

Autopsy If any of you are still alive we are into the Granny!

I was there at the 96 Prelim. The finish of this game certainly matched the finish of that one for amazingness. Well done Swannies.

No Oppo Supporters 2022 General AFL Discussion

In my dad's collection of books was this little beauty, the 1968 edition was there too. It's a fantastic record of football in Australia for the 1967 season, almost like a mini Australian Football version of Wisden, full of results, records, etc - not just for Victoria, for all major footy...

Fundraising Event For Muscular Dystrophy Tasmania - Craig Davis/Lucas Peters

Just to let everyone know that Davo today completed the challenge. He pushed Lucas Peters, in a wheelchair, from Wrest Point Casino to the peak of Mount Wellington in Hobart - a distance of 21km, uphill - to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Tasmania. This was three years in the planning and...

Fundraising Event For Muscular Dystrophy Tasmania - Craig Davis/Lucas Peters

*Posting with permission from the Sydney Board mods* Hello everyone On this coming Sunday, 21st November, there will be a major fundraising event for Muscular Dystrophy Tasmania occurring in Hobart. Craig Davis - originally from Tasmania and long-time Sydney resident - who played for Carlton...

Autopsy Demolition against West Coast - Rd 16

I wasn't well yesterday, by the time I woke up the game was nearly over. I couldn't believe my eyes, that must have been some performance. Well done Swans. Or, to put it in meme form (I hope this is ok):

Club History The Sth Melb/Sydney Swans history thread: 150 years 1874 - 2024

I grew up in Launceston, not that far from York Park, so I became a North Launceston supporter as a young fella. I remember the first three years I followed the Robins they had little success - I think they won 12 games from 69-71. In 1972 in an attempt to turn the club around, they did some...

Welcome Swans Fans - Introduce Yourselves Here!

I didn't know where else to post this, so here will do. (I've replaced my real name for obvious reasons). I'm not much of a self-promoter, but I have to say - "not bad for a Blues supporter". :) The Swans are very much my second side and I have been a member for so long to support both the...

Autopsy Swans vs Geelong SF 2017 [READ OP BEFORE POSTING]

*Swans member since 1994* The most frustrating thing for me, as very much a "Swans is my second side" person, is something that I am sure I saw touched upon earlier. I had a quick look at the Swans' record since the 12 flag: 2 GFs, 1 PF and now 2 SFs. It's a frustrating lack of success for 5...

Because it challenges peoples' prejudices. Charitable causes, like the ones you mentioned, don't do that (or at least not anywhere to the same extent).

    News Vale Tony Haenen

Sad news for the old South supporters, with the passing of Tony Haenen at the age of 69. He played just under 100 games for South, finishing in 1971. I am posting this because I am an old North Launceston supporter. I was a kid growing up in Launceston and supporting the (then) Robins. We were...
