There was an article in the HS last week about Scott Thompson being the best intercept defender in the league, just ahead of Hooker and Michael Hurley. Last week Hurley played on Black. Black played well up the ground, dragging Hurley away from the D50 and taking 9 marks in the process. This...
Really enjoyable game of footy last night. Always admired the way Geelong have played and glad to see we are implimenting similar attributes. I'm sure your boys will step it up from here on in.
Kudos to your posters too. Classy as always, even in defeat.
Except neither of those two will be playing defence.
The reality is it is not individual defenders that have caused our defensive lapses this year, but our inability to transition from attack to defence when the opposition turn the ball over at half back or from a midfield stoppage. Over and...
Ugghhh, don't remind me.
The games have been pretty even over the last 5 years, bar that one absolute shocker. It's a funny one though. It stems from the 70's mostly, but both clubs have had significant winning streaks over the ensuing 4 decades. I remember at one stage, 91 I think, that the...
It does generate an 'us against the world' attitude though, which translates to strong feelings against other clubs. That said, only Essendon and Hawthorn would be clubs that North supporters would consider they have a real rivalry with. We just dislike the rest of em as much as each other.

North did simulated match drills today w @Geelong_FC. Even they were amazed by how good @Steviejohnson20 & @tomhawkins_looked. Ominous

Might have something to do with the fact that quite a few on here had active roles in saving our club from extinction. You get that close to the brink and it makes you fight for the things you love.
For a bit o' fun, here's a team of those currently 23 or under on both lists.
B: Wright - L. Delaney - Hunt
HB: Atley - C. Delaney - Duncan
C: Smedts – Cunnington - Bastinac
HF: Motlop - Tarrant - Menzel
F: Christensen – Vardy - Harper
R: Simpson – Caddy - Ziebell
Int: Macmillan - Greenwood –...
So it seems just match simulation drills, probably some stoppage stuff and some moving the ball from end to end drills. In short, practice matches that aren't quite full practice matches. We will be doing it for four Friday's in a row.
The odds are he will. He is recovering from surgery to put in a PCL (LARS and graft) after playing without one for two years. Surely that can only be positive for him. Geelong would be mad to offer a first round pick for him and North nuts to expect it. A swap might be on the cards.
McIntosh...
73 goals between them since round 12, which is less than 50% of all goals scored since then. Thomas and Harvey are good for a few, as is Harper, so the forwards do their job.
Pretty sure he is contracted. From Cobden, family are all mad North folk too. So was he until he met his hero, Jono Brown, and promptly changed to the Lions.
Anyway, no way we will consider trading him. Only now is he starting to show his wares. IMO will end up being the best of our mids.
McIntosh was playing without a PCL for the last 4 years. This procedure was a dual faceted one. They added a LARS PCL to his knee ALONG with a hamstring graft, as per normal PCL reconstruction. If all goes well with his recovery his knee will be better and stronger than it has been in a long time.
Hope you guys don't mind the intrusion, but I am curious about this guy. When drafted he looked like being a line breaking, ball carrying excitement machine but I'm not sure what has happened to him since. Does he have the potential to be a good player and it has just been the stellar quality of...
