    Are recreational drugs performance enhancing?

And I believe this is what many players are doing (probably more so with cocaine than ice). They can party and blow off steam, dropping body fat as they do so. So those who break the rules are at an advantage over those who follow them, and only risk getting an anonymous strike. This is wrong, IMO.

    Are recreational drugs performance enhancing?

So the players that follow the rules and unwind with alcohol are punished by weight gain and decreased performance. Isn't this proof that the illegal drugs provide an unfair advantage?

    Are recreational drugs performance enhancing?

I don't understand the concept of something being banned on matchday only. If wada acknowledge that it enhances performance during a match, doesn't it by default enhance performance during training? I would argue that amphetamines meet all 3 of these criteria.

    Are recreational drugs performance enhancing?

Many of you are addressing my point on direct athletic performance but ignoring my point on weight loss. If anti obesity drugs like AOD and clenbuterol are banned, why not the anti obesity drug methamphetamine? It is still marketed for this purpose in the US. I realise they are banned on match...

    Are recreational drugs performance enhancing?

Maybe I was over the top saying "super human", but do you believe they couldn't improve performance in any way at all? They couldn't help a sleep-deprived player get through a long training session, for example?

    Are recreational drugs performance enhancing?

Firstly, apologies if this thread has already been done recently, I used the search function and could only find discussion of this from back in 2007. Hearing the news of Ben Cousins and the recent leaked results from Collingwood has put the AFL's drug policy back on people's minds. It has been...

Mega Thread AFL to investigate Essendon for controversial fitness program - PART2

A cup of OJ has like 250% of your daily requirement of vitamin C. Guess this all gives new meaning to the phrase "being on the juice".
